Very surprised by this movie. Much more funny and edgy than I thought it would be. Also, its good having tons of hot girls in a movie.

I never thought I'd own Mean Girls, but I do, and am proud to. It became an instant favorite of mine.

Hate to say it, but after having read all the reviews and comments in this thread, I guess I can consider it overrated in my opinion. The movie is witty and sharply-wirtten, but it sometimes can't decide whether it's a full-blown comedy or rather a satire with dramatic undertones. It works a bit on both levels, but fails to fulfill completely on each of them.
The performances of the cast are great. Rachel McAdams is even better than the already good Lindsay Lohan and Tona Fey is another stand-out with a bunch of great supporting characters. The movie is pretty funny, but at no moment did I find it laugh-out-loud hilarious as many described it to be. Having just finished school not too long ago, I could identify myself with many situations created in the film (even though German schools are still radically different from their American counterparts) and that oftentimes brought a smile to my face.
The thing is that I have already seen movies dealing with similar topics that were done somewhat better, at least as satires. That still doesn't mean that it is not a good movie. It is. But I don't see it as an instant classic, just as one of the better high school comedies released nowadays. I would have prefered the ending to be meaner (no pun intended) than it turned out to be and some characters could have been fleshed out a bit more (even though most characters were created as walking clichés on purpose I suppose).

The movie was adapted from a non-fiction, advice book so yes, there are character cliches and archetypes all throughout the movie.

Fantastic. Probably when I look back at my teenage life around 20 years from now, this movie will stand out more to me than any other. In my top 3 of 2004.

Second best teen film of the thousands so far, only beaten by Donnie Darko. Anyway the film was aswome, its the only teen film this decade (besides Donnie) that I've given a grade beyond an A-. Great film

One of the funniest high school films in recent memory. Full of sharp humour and great one-liners. Some great performances, especially Rachel McAdams before she was really well known. The end is hopelessly cheesy, and the whole thing reeks of heavy-handedness (especially at the end), but the satirical elements work really well. All in all, a hilarious look at high school life.

A very humorous, witty movie. The script was one of the best of that year and all involved gave great performances. I was surprised I liked it as much as I did.

Was watching a little bit of it on TV the other day.
Still really funny. I don't know if I ever gave it enough credit.
B+, maybe even A-.

"Now what the young ladies in this grade need is an attitude makeover. And you're going to get it, right now. I don't care how long it takes. I will keep you here all night."
"We can't keep them past four."
"I will keep you here until four."
This movie is so, so, sooooo good. And rewatchable.

One of the best movies of 2004 and my favourites ever, one of the most quoteable too.

Re: Mean Girls
This and Legally Blonde completely destroy my credibility as an elitist piece of shit. Seriously, most rewatchable movie of the decade. Tina Fey's other masterpiece. (the other other being 30 Rock)

Re: Mean Girls
Possibly the most rewatchable comedy of all time for me.
I think it's fair to say I quote this and Anchorman the most of any films released in the last 10 years.
