Presales started today and its uber strong. Definitely opening above 100m even over 3 days. Question is how much over. Probably one of the favorites to win the summer at this point. |

180 million 3 day/220 million 4 day/575 million total. The "aw he's so cute" Stitch factor prints money and mixes kids with millennials still being interested. |

Bizarre considering the downward trend of the live action remakes up to this point, and the fact the original was not a huge hit. 257m adjusted is less than the Little Mermaid adjusted 286m, and way below the 90's heyday of Aladdin, Lion King and Beauty ant the Beast. |

I think the characters found new life outside that movie plus the marketing has been really strong. They even had Stitch appear in a movie discount stand recently. Hype is very high for the movie. I think they should make live action versions of movies like Emperor's New Groove and Princess and the Frog. Some of the other ones like Madagascar and Ice Age run into the no humans problem, or aren't big enough like the Road to El Dorado. |

Lilo & Stitch got a big following over the years. I didn't see it until DVD and absolutely loved it. It's one of my favorite animated movies. |

We can use this thread to track OS BO. 26.7m till thursday and Charlie is saying 175m+ OS OW and Japan is releasing in 2 weeks. Its doing very badly in Asia and doing really well outside. 700m is possible without Japan as legs will be good in Europe, down under and even Latin America where its 2nd biggest opener after IO2. |

I think its going to have a close battle with Minecraft for biggest movie so far this year. Next weekend hold will confirm if that will happen or not. |

Yeah after this weekend's estimate I cannot see how it's even a close battle. Lilo will surely lose this to Minecraft. |
