I think it looks really good. Had this released pre COVID it would have even opened very well. Now post COVID original animation seem to have challenges but let us see how this does post IO2 blowing up huge. Pixar used to have a stable Adult fan base previously. Dom Shi(Turning Red) taking over the project seem to have helped. I did not care of the teaser earlier.

On negative side beyond early D+ release, its releasing close to How to train your dragon live action.

I think 50m OW would be a huge win.

If it gets strong reviews, I can see it be the best opening for an original animated film post pandemic with 40m+ and well over 150m total.

50m seems a bridge too far as we have not gotten within spitting distance of that with an original animated film since I believe Coco in 2017!!!!

I was thinking this is a Good Dinosaur.

It should target $40m and that would be a decent start. If its good - it will leg it like Elemental did.

It's biggest hurdle is that it comes out 1 week after Dragon

Feels like a throwaway to me, never really got the hook plot wise. One week after How to Train Your Dragon also isn't great.

Presales are meh as usual for any original animation. This will have to rely on WOM to break out.

I don't see a big hit. Good Dinosaur level for sure. It looks meh, too.

Think this could miss 100m unless it's Pixar good. Not impossible but idk. Doesn't really look that appealing.

It comes out a week after Dragon and two weeks before Jurassic - I doubt it ends up holding well enough for a recovery gross like Elemental. However, it should still get over $100m.

its presales are quite a bit worse than Elemental which itself had meh presales. Disney needs to pull a rabbit ouf its hat for this. Get reviews out early and I feel the fan shows are too late. Should have played next Saturday or something. Of course that is also not good as its OW for Dragon which will open > 3x Elio OW.

Ultimately they should not have released it in June. March would have been perfect. or September this year.

Getting chased off its opening weekend by Dragon was always a bad sign. This should have been a March opener. That month was dead as fuck and badly needed a hit while this movie needed space away from real blockbusters.

28 Years Later will eat its lunch only that weekend. Only hope is having an extra leggy run like Elemental, but Jurassic World, Superman and Fantastic Four are gonna be taking up all the screens even if they aren't technically direct competition (even though they kinda are.)

This needs great reviews.

Social embargo is down, and reactions are predictably very good. Real reviews will probably be weaker, but at least seems like it will be on par with something like Luca quality wise.

Feel good about it having legs even if the opening is weak.
