I have a gut feeling that Michael is going to open to 100m+ and be super controversial, a water cooler movie that everyone will be talking about which will give it over 400m total.

Something unexpected breaks out though hard to guess. Avatar has good marketing campaign with the fire theme and makes more than the 2nd. Jurassic World disappoints.

Probably way off as usual, but my 2025 predictions:

1. Superman - $626M (Krypto is the Iron Man of the 2020s)
2. Avatar 3 - $585m (it will win worldwide by a comfortable margain though)
3. Lilo and Stich - $465M (Stitch is awesome and its about damn time people realize)
4. Zootopia 2 - $435M (underwhelming open but excellent legs)
5. Fantastic Four - $398M (moves to November in Predator: Badlands spot)
6. Spongebob: The Search For Squarepants - $260M (Its time for a Spongebob movie to finally capitalize on the characters massive popularity.)
7. Jurassic World 4 - $220M (mini flop in US but overseas makes up for it)
8. Mission Impossible - $200M (better release date gets the "final" reckoning over $200M)
9. How To Train Your Dragon - $180M (this movie is ten years early)
10. Captain America: Brave New World - $177M (this movie is dumb but I'll see it anyways and it'll find a way to beat First Avenger)

Michael - $150M (good but Lionsgate will mess up its true potential)
Snow White - $150M (good but not really)
Elio - $150M (good but not good enough to avoid Ratatouille 2, Wall E 2, Up 2, Cars 4, Monsters Inc 3 ...)
Thunderbolts - $125M (ehhh why does Marvel need a Suicide Squad when Suicide Squad is just DCs Guardians?)
Mickey 17 and Sinners - I hope these do well but probably won't
Wicked Part Two - pushed to 2026

Yeah I know but I just find it hard to believe anyone can turn around a huge production like that in a year anymore. Like I said though, probably wrong.

No surprise Minecraft isn't on any list. It really is going to tank. Spoke to my kids who no longer play the game and to other kids who do and none of them want to see the film. It looks ridiculous and has the wrong actors in it. It really should have been animated.

I was greatly disappointed seeing the Numbers predictions. If anything, I think Jurassic may underperform - not beat Avatar.

Marvel films seem like they are in the wrong order.

They don’t actually predict they just plug things into formulas and just assume that all original movies will bomb and sequels will do about as well as previous films

March is looking like it could plunge 2025 down to 2024 levels YTD.

2025 is currently up 20% but that can quickly be eroded.

Good thing is that April and May look stronger this year.

We are in the "2-3 huge movies a year" era. So odds are at least two movies will be massive beside Avatar. And one will probably be more surprising than just a Zootopia/Superman/Wicked/F4.

I guess the $400m+ grossers are likely to be Avatar, Wicked 2 and maybe Zootopia. All late in the year.

That leaves room for 1 or 2 summer breakouts which I think will be Superman and Lilo and Stitch. Both will overperform.

That said - BO is now up less than 7% on this time last year.
