Slump Before The Storm - Glicked Edition
I'm wondering if we are in for about a month of slow box office sales as the public waits for Glicked. Joker is Dial of Destiny, Red One is Dead Reckoning. Terrifier 3 is Sound of Freedom, except the numbers are real. Wild Robot is Elemental. There was even a Transformers film. Its all shaping up exactly the same.

Re: Slump Before The Storm - Glicked Edition
Joker 2 is nothing like Dial of Destiny. What the fucking hell are you talking about? Joker will do a third of what DoD did. Red One is also not going to anything like Dead Reckoning. Are you having a stroke or something? There is also nothing similar between Terrifier 3 and Sound of Freedom. Am I missing some hilarious gag here?
But you're right about Wicked being huge. Not so sure about Gladiator 2, though.

Re: Slump Before The Storm - Glicked Edition
Nov 1st/8th movies
Absolution Hitpig Here Weekend in Tapei Heretic The Best Christmas Pageant Ever My Dead friend Zoe Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom
They all look like nothing releases outside of maybe Here. Heretic I guess is going for the horror a week after Halloween strategy (is that a thing now?) and Hitpig is the type of C level animation not even kids are interested in.
Maybe We Live In Time (seems like it expands Oct 25th) for sleeper. It sounds like it has great word of mouth in a tearjerker way.

Re: Slump Before The Storm - Glicked Edition
Venom 3 should open north of 70m. That would be higher than what Gladiator would do next month. Wicked on the other hand is looking like a 100m+ opener. How much higher depends on final surge but its presales are great so far. Gladiator is doing fairly ok as well but no where near a big breakout or something. I think 50m OW would be great for it.

But you're right about Wicked being huge. Not so sure about Gladiator 2, though. Joker and DoD both made the same marketing mistake of premiering at a prestigious festival and assuming everyone was going to love it. Terrifier is an unexpected indie success just like SoF (except people actually paid for their Terrifier tickets.) Red One is a star powered action flick that looks set to underwhelm. Don't even need to use the imagination that much to make these connections.

Re: Slump Before The Storm - Glicked Edition
Levels, dude. Your connection of Joker 2 and Dial of Destiny because they premiered at festivals and underwhelmed is as thin as a cobweb. It's like saying Ghost Ship is Titanic because they both have boats in them. Your comparison, particularly of Joker 2 and Indy 5 makes me think you don't really know how much of a failure Joker 2 really is. Maybe stop using your imagination and look at reality.

Re: Slump Before The Storm - Glicked Edition
Cobwebs? Boats? Now you're just being silly with no reason other than the wanting of being right. Do movies need to have the exact same box office gross to be compared to one another? The similarities between the two films and their downfalls are obvious.

Re: Slump Before The Storm - Glicked Edition
Of course not. You can compare any movie you like, but it's meaningless unless the comparison is warranted. Indy 5 and Joker 2 are not in the same ball park of failure, in my opinion.

There is a bit of a resemblance to the lead up to Barbenheimer. I think Wickiator will be a huge weekend but scaled down vs Barb, especially in the legs department. Right now I'm expecting the following OWs : Venom : The Last Dance - $100m Here : $10m Red One : $17m Wicked : $130m Gladiator: $60m Moana : $120m 5-day

I think Here can have A Man Called Otto type total.
But bizarre studios are letting that anchor the first half of November. Did a big film move from the first half of the month?

Early reactions say Gladiator II is incredible.
Could we see Wicked doing $120M+ and Gladiator doing $70M+ ?

Gladiator 2 has to be late bloomer. Currently previews have sold < 1/3rd of Wicked and Wicked has sold slightly more for its early shows than previews :-) I think Wicked at least 2x Gladiator 2.

I think Gladiator II will have more walk ups. Wicked is more fanbase driven.
$130m/$70m would not surprise.

It was capacity constrained and even weekend sales were super strong. Gladiator is less than half of Oppenheimer sales. Dont forget Oppenheimer presales started 12 days before Barbie as well and so it had strong sales even before Barbenheimer effect.

Oppy IMAX was its whole event, Gladiator obviously won’t emulate that.

Gladiator can play well over holidays if it's great even if the opening is only 40m.

I think that movie with the rock and Evans might surprise. It seems to be first film since beetlejuice I’m seeing a lot of ads during sports

Red One looks like a breakout to me as well. Releasing at the perfect time as well.

It looks like a 90s movie. Very throwaway entertainment-like.

Re: Slump Before The Storm - Glicked Edition
Maybe it's the red title and the Rock but it always looked like a Netflix movie released in theatres, still that could do well enough. May not hurt that he has been on ice for reasonably long time for his standards.

It will be the first major release of the Holiday season if you don’t count Here. There will be pent up demand for something to see

Re: Slump Before The Storm - Glicked Edition
I hope Red One is a hit as i have it for the draft. It has streaming related negatives but looks like it can overcome them.
The market is certainly ripe for a hit and it has zero competition.
