At one point I didn't think it would, but since audiences didn't flock to Transformers there's room for a hit animated movie. Great reviews can only help.

Yeah looks like the reviews will help this. Otherwise this would look more like a $8 or 9m grosser to me. Mid to late 20's is possible.

There's room, sure, but there doesn't have to be an animated hit. We could just have another weekend of meh performers with demand for animated films being spread over a few movies instead of one being huge. That's probably what will happen until Moana 2 comes out.

There certainly doesn't have to be, but it will benefit it. Sure, here's an improved version:

There doesn't have to be, but it will definitely help. Either way, I don't see it making a huge difference, and you're right—money will probably just get split between the two movies. I do think The Wild Robot will impact Transformers quite a bit. These two shouldn't have opened on back-to-back weekends. Not sure what the studios were thinking.

Huge breakout incoming I think. Like $40M+ / $200M+ type run. Deadpool, Beetlejuice and Transformers have been servicing families with older kids but there hasn't been anything for all ages since Despicable Me. I'd go even higher on the total but I think there's a chance the second weekend drop will be larger than expected just cause people don't want to bring their kids around when Joker is playing.

Well, if Mr. 'Horizon will be a breakout' says it then it must happen ;)

Not my fault. Israel planted bombs in all the projectors showing the film!

It should open bigger than Transformer One but the final days surge does not look like a humongous breakout. Let us see how walkups go. I would say 2.5m preview and low to mid 30s OW.

I do think it is getting the adult animation/anime crowd.

Wow. Wild Robot will be in 3,962 theaters. I didn't imagine it would be such a wide release. I thought it would play in a half-hearted 2,500 theaters. This really could do well. If it doesn't, it's only got itself to blame.

Just 1.95m in previews. Its walkups sucked big time. So its going to be more niche than what I expected earlier. Could end up in mid to high 20s OW at this rate.

Wild Robot should've gone for holiday season.

its not a universal family movie in theaters. Its about a Robot in forest. More sci-fi despite the story line being emotional. That said I agree that releasing an original family movie in September is not ideal.

Apparently Coppola sold half his wine for 500 million, apparently the movie isn’t too bad either. So if he goes on a half win things could be worse , interesting move that would obviously backfire considering the movie, just so crazy it costs so much to distribute a film himself, though Gibson almost did it for passion
