If it's another Tenet, many theaters just aren't going to survive without aid from a Congress that goes to "work" to cry over their colleagues that are retiring and still planning to go on vacation in two weeks versus doing their jobs. I haven't read all that's included in that new, low, $908 billion proposal that has a 50/50 shot at best of passing (if it gets a vote at all), but chances are that aid is limited for theater owners.
Maybe some aid can be had at last come January, but it could be too late if the holiday season fails them. I fail to see it doing much better than Tenet. Might even do worse. Some will opt to see it in theaters but I think there will be too many who just watch it at home for it to do that well. They should have released this in Tenet's place. Well I take it back. I checked over 20 theaters for opening day and at most of them it was doing terrifically. A lot of packed/almost sold out shows. Tons of them operating at 100% capacity (I would not want to be at one of these shows). Won't be all that surprised if this somehow makes it to 100 Million tbh.

Looking like theaters in PA might close before Christmas but if there’s one within reasonable distance open, will definitely catch it on the big screen.

My theaters were closed for a few weeks but now they’re back open even with rising infections and deaths. Makes no sense.

California is definitely not gonna reopen theaters for January as well. Sigh. I expect theaters to reopen here around late Feb./March.

WW1984's opening weekend will be 2.3 million net new subscriptions for HBO Max and a $29M theatrical OW.

Re: Predict WW1984's domestic opening weekend
At the beginning of the year this was my most anticipated movie. Now I might not see it until it releases on blu ray and buy it. I won't subscribe to HBO max and support this strategy, and I won't see it in theaters unless the theater I used to work at with the ultrascreen DLX reopens.

So bizarre. This would've made a billion dollars probably. Sad I won't get to see this in the theater opening night.

$11.5M opening.
With no work or school the next day, the biggest diehards will not be able to resist watching this as soon as it drops on HBO Max.

Not my most anticipated or anything, but was certainly looking forward to it. And Regal owns the theaters within reasonable driving distance to me, and they're all closed, so that's not an option. Not subscribing to HBO Max ($15, right?) just to watch this movie when I can buy it on Blu-Ray in a couple of months for a little more. A bit old-fashioned I guess, but I still prefer to physically own movies. This is probably going to be the case for most (or all) Disney/Warner Bros. films for a while.

Re: Predict WW1984's domestic opening weekend
I am sure it will open big still. The theaters are 80% sold out for this in Singapore and not only is it getting the biggest screens its getting almost all the screens because there are shows every 5-15 minutes in all the theaters near me (and after a random check pretty much all theaters in SG)

That wouldn't stop me. I wouldn’t cross a border if PA coronavirus was significantly better or worse than the surrounding states, but as it stands it’s about the same. So I plan to go to Delaware to see Wonder Woman.
