This is really awful news for the industry. Since it looks like Mulan did not do that well on VOD, the film industry is really going to need things to go totally back to normal in order to make any profit.

I'm not sure all the studios are going to make it tbh.

Looks like 'Mulan' racked up some coin after all - conservative estimate of $261m domestic. :whaa:

That's huge! I bet WB will now rethink their strategy.

Crap now they’re definitely gonna release Black Widow and Soul that way. SMH. Maybe they can do day and date theatrical releases as well?

I don't buy those #s lol

If both Black Widow and Soul do this then Mulan did well but that source from Yahoo seems random.

Whichever distributor who act faster to release their big movies on VOD sooner in next month before the others will enjoy great VOD numbers. Due to lack of new big VOD movies right for awhile, leading to Trolls, Scooby Doo, and Mulan all doing well. But once multiple big movies get VOD release within same month, people may only be willing to pay for one or two of them and the VOD gross per movie will go down.

Tenet should still do really good VOD numbers if it gets released on VOD before other movies do, so WB may still do ok (just Nolan will miss out on the VOD profits).

Yeah same, and tellingly Deadline hasn't reported on it. Since when is Yahoo the authoritative voice on the film industry?
