With all the restrictions going on and public fear to overcome, has any movie a chance to deliver a $100m opening weekend this year?

And which movies could make it happen?

The poll should be Yes or No to make it more exciting.
I think there will be at least one, but I don't know which movie(s). Probably in Q4.

Right now, "0" is the more likely answer.

2 or 3 movies in the fall will top 100m OW for sure.

I'm an optimist :D

Black Widow will do it barring some horrible developments in the fall.

Even with the restrictions lifted, its hard to see people getting really hyped up about packing into a sold out theater any time soon. How long did it take to recover after the Aurora massacre? This will be like that, but with a side of guilt over putting your fellow cinamabuffs in danger just so you could go out and do something easily done at home.

A $25 m opener would be a win at this point.

The only chance the film studios/theaters have this year is using movie theater parking lots as drive in's.

A more interesting question is if there will be any further $100m domestic total this year.

Hollywood is over. No one is going to a movie theatre for the foreseeable future. Either coronavirus second wave or Captain America: Civil War will make sure of that.

Avengers Endgame was indeed the end of box office as we know it. It was the last hurrah. Very fitting considering it kind of felt that way in 2019 - MCU finale, GOT finale, SW Skywalker finale.

There will be $100m Openers in future but nothing of the magnitude or frequency we've seen over the last decade.

It's kind of eerie how arguably the three biggest entertainment properties of the 2010s ended in 2019: Avengers, Game of Thrones, and the third iteration of Star Wars. Hollywood wrapped up and then 2020 hit a reset button on the whole world.
