Weekend Actuals (welp)
Onward - $39,119,861
And this includes the Saturday sneaks, so really the weekend was $38.5m. Eep.

Honestly, it's not too shocking. Not only did it look uninspired for a Pixar release, but surely the Coronavirus is having some impact, especially in cities. Drops all around were poor. I was going to see it this weekend, but I'm not taking any unnecessary chances. No cases have been reported within 2/3 hours from me, but I can wait for a slower weekend or even home video release if things don't improve.

I don’t think drops were that bad. Call of the wild and sonic dropped more, but they had competition. Invisible Mans hold was good for horror. BB4L, BOP and other movies didn’t hold badly considering theater losses.

Re: Weekend Actuals (welp)
Agreed the drops were good for most movies. It wasn't exactly a "slow" weekend

Re: Weekend Actuals (welp)
The thing is movies that gross small numbers were not playing busy. So they can gross their numbers despite not being busy while openers big movies need to sellout and that is what people would avoid with COVID-19. Plus families would be ones playing conservative. Gitesh did post this morning the big plex in NYC was unusually quiet yesterday. Quote: Went to a multiplex theater in Times Square NYC on Sunday afternoon. Normally it would be bustling with New Yorkers & tourists, but only saw about 20 people total across the theater and lobby. Looked more like a Wednesday afternoon. Hits to attendance likely to continue. https://twitter.com/GiteshPandya/status ... 0102113282

Re: Weekend Actuals (welp)
In retrospect it's better that FF9 is releasing in late May versus the franchise's traditional late April/early May period. Who knows, maybe the paranoia and spread will be worse by then.
