March 6-8 predictions
Onward - 40 (honestly could see this in the 30s below Good Dinosaur... but we'll see) The Way Back - 6

Re: March 6-8 predictions
The market is open enough for a kids movie but then again COVID might impact BO if the numbers keep increasing.
Onward - $32m The Way Back - $9m

Onward - $38m The Way Back - $8m
Onward just doesn't feel like a Disney/Pixar event.
Would love Way Back to have done Moneyball numbers but $10m feels like a major win.

Re: March 6-8 predictions
I don't think Onward will go sub 40 but it definitely has no chance at the what used to be Pixar standard 50-70m OW.

Onward - 45 The Way Back - 7
I am honestly hoping for more from both, but it just doesn't feel like there is much buzz for either.

Re: March 6-8 predictions
I don't know what happened with The Way Back. WB seems to be dumping it entirely. Does anyone know a specific reason for this? Affleck still has a decent name pull specially in these kind of underdog movies.

Yea the Way Back seems like a missed opportunity.

Re: March 6-8 predictions
The Way Back always looked like a dud to me. These kinds of movies rarely make money anymore. Especially when it's Rated R. These only seem to do respectable if they're faith-based family movies and even then it's hit and miss.

Re: March 6-8 predictions
Previews are looking like 2.5m + 0.65m for saturday advance/marathon shows. I am thinking 55m OW based on very strong saturday presales.

Re: March 6-8 predictions
Onward may do well enough on its Pixar merits, but it sure feels like a non-event. A $40m start won't surprise me.

Re: March 6-8 predictions
Way Back has no previews but friday PS is not bad. I am thinking low double digits OW.

That would be great opening for Onward Walkups today was less than expected. I am thinking 1.8-2m previews and 40-45m OW now. I wonder if COVID-19 had some impact. We will know based on walk ups tomorrow.

This makes me worry about Soul, which looks more interesting.
