How often are side effects worse than getting the disease? Surely it happens but I feel like it’s much more likely to get a severe case of the disease than to have side effects that are as bad.

Well yeah, I think that's just the question.

We're dealing with a virus, where really not that much is known about, it's still being discovered to some extent I think and where they are pushing through a vaccine as soon as they can.

There are some signs, like what Shack alludes to, that for young people the worst they get affected by Covid is a flu of some kind. So getting flu shots and all that fine, but how many people are really getting flu shots, I don't really have an idea how safe flu shots are.

But some rough numbers of other vaccines (DTP, measles), the chance of a severe side effect reaction seems to be 1 in 750,000 - 1 million. I guess that's a fair enough risk for pretty severe diseases. Maybe Covid is not a severe as those, I'm not sure either.

Covid is very infectious though and even it's not that severe just the fact a lot of people can get somewhat sick from it, even if just the flu, if a lot more people than usually get the flu, it put a great damper on work and business that could hurt the economy quite a lot that way. So really by the way it looks like a Covid vaccine makes sense, like I don't think the governments and economists wouldn't put all that effort in it if they didn't see the effectiveness. Eh..that might have been a bit too much of a ramble.

Welp 160K cases in a day.

Can we call it quits now?

Actually. even with the ridiculously high numbers, I think today will be the strongest BO day since Tenet opened. Freaky looks decent and it is Friday the 13th. Should make at least $2M.

Bummer. Makes me wonder if its just the same 3-4 million dollars worth of people seeing every new release.

I mean, it’s probably not even widely known theaters are open right now considering the lack of tent poles.

If AMC can stay open through Thanksgiving I’ll go see Croods 2.

16/17 private screenings at the closest cinemark are sold out for tomorrow. This is the way. I dunno how we will calculate box office returns with these but hopefully will encourage studios to start releasing some bigger movies.

Welp, I returned to the theaters for the first time after Parasite (on Jan 1st non the less)

And it's a striking comparison. I watched Parasite with a PACKED sold out showing (before it even won the oscar)

And now Freaky... Me and my boyfriend plus another couple... In a 250 seat room

Movie theaters are allowed to re-open on Thursday in the Netherlands while restaurants and bars have to stay closed...

Finally the right order based on known infection sources...

I think it’s also weighed considering that restaurants employ so many more people than movie theaters do.

Good to know that people are finally getting smart about these restrictions. For countries where there isn't rabid fans rushing to movies its better to have movie theaters open as source of entertainment.

So the US scored 194k new covid-19 cases in a day?

Good luck with that. I can't believe how deep you guys are in this mess. Your health care system must be going down the drain.

That's hy I am loving the new Grey's Anatomy season. They're showing all the toll it takes on us health care workers. Everyone should watch it.

Try the season opener of SVU. It's like a 2020 recap and guide.

States like Illinois, Michigan and Pennsylvania have massive new cases per day right now... like 10x bigger than the numbers they were having in the summer. But I thought they were the ones doing it right lockdown wise???

There is simply no pattern that lockdowns help states and countries that did it more than ones that didn't. Florida and South Dakota should be a morgue while Democrat states that have gone crazy with the lockdown like Michigan do great if it was a major factor. Sweden has done better than most European countries.

For all we know people being away from sunlight hurts them more than lockdowns or masks helps them, and physical health and emotional health is connected, living in fear and being away from loved ones or friends is bad for you physically. The PROCESS that led to the conclusion that lockdowns and masks are the answer was messed up due to ultra partisan media. As for masks I honestly think mandatory tuques would help more than mandatory masks.

You know what Shack? I'm so over this. Go out. Live your life, don't wear a mask. But once you get it lets hope you don't die and you don't infect someone close you and don't feel bad for directly killing one of closed ones.

I’m very confused about asymptomatic spread. I have many friends that have tested positive with minor to no symptoms, who have had very close contact with other people, and those people have tested negative. From what I can see, it does not seem like you are that contagious when you are asymptomatic, or all those people would have tested positive, right?

Masks are mandatory in public places where I live including at work, so I don't have much of a choice anymore.

Deep down we all know the truth about the effectiveness of masks that are the cheapest ones someone could find, are homemade or haven't been washed in weeks/months, which accounts for like 99% of people at this point. There's a difference between a high quality, regularly cleaned or replaced hospital mask designed specifically to filter out particles vs someone breathing and sweating into the same piece of cloth every day for the last 3 weeks without washing it. Some of these masks are about as effective as if you wore the same boxers a month, tied some string to it and then wore it on your face. But bad masks are preferred to no masks right now, because if you wear a bad mask you are still promoting mask wearing and social distancing.

Welp, Murica has done it again.

1 covid death every 30 seconds in your country.

More deaths yesterday than in 9/11.
