$3.5M opening. Bombs away.

I wouldn’t have predicted much more in its original release date. The move killed any chance it had though. Everybody celebrated The Interview being released in theaters and nobody saw it.

It also feels like this controversy happened three years ago even though it was only a few months. I guess that’s how the Trump news cycle works.

In its original release it could have done quite solid. But now not so much. Opening a week before A Quiet Place 2 guarantees a quick death. Honestly they should have done maybe August. Release it closer to the election. But it probably won't do very well anywhere anymore.

Seriously, doing a “we are defying Trump” type of release was the only way for this to be a winner. And they don’t seem interested at all in doing anything to upset the President, just like the Senate.
