I'm a huge horror fan and none of the recent releases have remotely interested me. Gretel and Hansel (backwards title, seriously?) looks dull, the upcoming Fantasy Island looks to be a disaster. I'm pretty sure I fell asleep during The Lodge trailer. 2 'F' Cinemascores for the genre this year doesn't inspire confidence, either. I hope the next Conjuring is solid.

They've all interested me just because I'll watch most horror movies. But they have not been a good crop. I've only seen The Grudge so far and it was truly awful. I will still see The Turning but have lost any genuine excitement for it. I think Gretel and Hansel could be decent. It looks very visually appealing. I still don't expect it to be well-received but hopefully it won't be terrible. Fantasy Island seems really fun I think. It will be trash but fingers crossed for entertaining trash. The Lodge is the only one of these that seems genuinely great (and the only one that will have good reviews). I'm excited for that one. That and The Invisible Man are the ones I'm excited about until A Quiet Place II. I think The Invisible Man could get solid reviews. Leigh Whannel is not a bad genre filmmaker (Upgrade is fantastic and Insidious 3 is the best in the series after the original).

If the openers lead to light drops again, BB4L will have a good shot at 200m. Turns out to be a good release date, especially for an R rated movie. This is as light as new competition gets anywhere besides Labor Day.

Both of them have aweful presales somewhere close to Turning last week.

That said hopefully they are not that badly received.

G&H - 8
Rhythm - 7

Given the amount of releases this year we should be in for a leggy year for movies.

Knives Out should still be in the top 10 this weekend which is fantastic to see.

Gretel & Hansel with an abysmal 12% audience score after previews. Could we have an 'F' Cinemascore hat trick?
