Yeah the Star Wars universe is addictive. The Last Jedi backlash is as bad as it will ever get. People were willing to skip Solo because who ever really cared about Solo? But they aren't skipping Episode 9 just because there is a girl driving the Millenium Falcon. They'll bitch when she eventually defeats Kylo Ren, but they'll still happily give up their money.

I'm feeling the hype now. $220M opening.

Solo always felt like a bad idea. Just like the Obi Wan or Bobba stand alones.

Really only 40 for Jumanji, I think it has 55+ locked up this point.

I think it will be in it for the long haul but people might not be in a rush to see it. It certainly won't come close to reaching the heights of the first. You might be right though. I believe tracking is 40-60 Million opening weekend.

I don't feel Jumanji will open big. Might even open in the 30s but play decent through January.

It looks like Jumanii isn't going to do too well in China, opened there already.

Man Next Level is looking to drop big from the first one if the early numbers are any indication. I can't say I'm all that surprised though since this never seemed like it had franchise potential. Just like the first It movie it was mostly a lightening in a bottle type success, although both movies will likely still end up being hugely profitable for their respective studios since the budgets weren't too high and the less than saturated marketing campaigns.

Jumanji reviews are better than I was expecting. Still seeing an opening in the 30s though.

Jumanji was released here last week and after watching it I wouldn't be surprised to see another great run from it. The movie is similar yet different with more action and maintaining the fun adventure vibes. With early positive reviews it should hold VERY well throughout Christmas once the WoM spreads.

About what I was expecting after seeing the first trailer. The concept still works; the role playing is still fun and fresh to many.

My predictions for the weekend:

1. JUMANJI: NEXT LEVEL - 43.79 MILLION (New)
2. FROZEN II - 20.396 MILLION (-42%)
3. RICHARD JEWELL - 8.282 MILLION (New)
4. KNIVES OUT - 9.24 MILLION (-35%)
5. BLACK CHRISTMAS - 8.7 MILLION (New)
6. FORD V FERRARI - 4.392 MILLION (-34%)
7. QUEEN & SLIM - 4.118 MILLION (-38%)
8. A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD - 3.12 MILLION (-40%)
9. DARK WATERS - 2.157 MILLION (-46%)
10. 21 BRIDGES - 1.518 MILLION (-47%)
11. MIDWAY - 1.005 MILLION (-48%)
12. PLAYING WITH FIRE - $955,683 (-53%)
13. JOKER - $707,833 (-30%)

Ended up lowering Black Christmas. Thursday night shows here were not well-attended. Now maybe it will rebound on Friday since it's Friday the 13th and that's played up big time in the ads. But I'm no longer thinking it will break double digits.

How bad will the RT score be for Cats? Given the embargo, I'm going with 40%.

See Rise of Skywalker at 190s for the weekend.

Cats I'm guessing around 12-14.

Cats has almost no plot, it was popular mainly because of the special effects and costumes and songs. So it could go either way, depending on if they judge it based on what it’s going for or if they think the lack of strong plot is a problem. Probably won’t go over 70% range though.

Even close to 70% for a movie they just completed Monday morning would be amazing. I don't really know if they could successfully make this into a movie. Sounds better set for the stage.

Really curious to see how these reviews affect TROS OW. It shouldn't be by much, but I really doubt it's crossing $200M now. I got no idea what to expect from Cats either, but mid teens sounds about right.

Up to 15% with 35 reviews now! The average score is terrible at 3.69/10! Probably looking at an overall score of around 20%
