Deadline says Rise of Skywalker tickets not as "robust"
as TFA and TLJ. What does this mean? Quote: We’ve been hearing for quite some time from exhibitors and distribution sources that advance ticket sales are strong, but not overly robust for Disney/Lucasfilm’s finale Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, meaning in the way that they were for 2015’s Force Awakens ($247.9M) and 2017’s Last Jedi ($220M) https://deadline.com/2019/11/star-wars- ... 202796194/

Just means that it will stay below $200m but that would still be enough for Top 10 OW

ROS broke Endgame's first hour record by 50%. Infinity War sold less presales than even Rogue One and opened 100 million higher. Presales once they reach the ridiculous levels aren't really a great indicator for OW other than the fact that it's going to be big, and we all knew ROS had no shot at Endgame numbers.

You’re comparing different franchises, different audiences.

Re: Deadline says Rise of Skywalker tickets not as "robust"
Well the only films worth mentioning are SW and Avengers, and the audiences aren't that different. Just from SW, it outsold TFA the first day by a crazy number. The market has changed in 4 years. Personally TFA is the only film I ever reserved tickets for, but I don't have to anymore as I know it'll be easy to get tickets for ROS the day of previews. Reserving has become more of a learning curve. The marketing has been great the last few weeks, and will keep picking up. At this point everyone knows it's coming out, especially with 40+ million people watching Mandalorian witch I'm sure ads playing throughout.
Point is presales were big for TFA and AE. The rest are going to depend on a lot of different more reliable factors. It's too unreliable to use as a judging curve yet, outside of it's going to have a huge weekend.

SW has a higher percentage of previews. Just one way in which they are different. With its fans I don’t doubt SW has an advantage in PS.

Disney's PR team has started the spin early. Smart, they can now always point to the fact that "it was never supposed to make as much as Force Awakens and Last Jedi". Better to start with lowered expectations, they learned after Solo was supposedly tracking for a $170m+ 4-day OW.
