 October 4-6 predictions
Joker: Folie à Deux - 71
This should be doing 100m+ but yeah, presales lok weak. Think it should pick up, unless the early screenings don't generate at least decent WoM.

 Re: October 4-6 predictions
I'm sticking with my call this has a secret late breaking audience like Venom. But even if it's opens to 80-90 and then has poor legs that's still not that good. Anything below 200 million total is a pretty big failure.

 Re: October 4-6 predictions
Even with all the doom and gloom I'd be stunned to see this to go under $100M opening. If it really does open around Flash / Dial of Destiny it'll top Furiosa as the biggest disaster of the year for me (in terms of potential, not budget.)

The media is just treating like this like a total non-event, it's very strange.

Joker: Folie à Deux - $85m
Sure, this may not grow OW compared to the first, but I don't see a total dud either.
Maybe Friday will be huge and then early WOM (possibly poor due to the musical aspects) will hurt it during the OW weekend - but the OW total should be OK.

 Re: October 4-6 predictions
There is absolutely nothing in pre-sales that suggest it's doing more than 60 million at this point. Unless this has major walk ups I think we are looking at an opening between the marvels and the flash.

 Re: October 4-6 predictions
Maybe it echoes that the US is in a better place. The first film isn't an uplifting film, yet it did very well. Maybe the US is a healthier country now, and thus not as interested in another downer film.

Are you saying WB made the same mistake as Russia???

 Re: October 4-6 predictions
After seeing it... yeah, legs will probably be bad.
It's pretty crazy how DC sequels that should have been easy wins (WW1984, Aquaman and now this) end up disappointing.

 Re: October 4-6 predictions
What they're creating with The Batman / Penguin will probably buck that trend. The Batman 2 should do very well.

 Re: October 4-6 predictions
I feel like The Batman kinda came and went. The first half was brilliant but the second was really disappointing, like if Se7en hadn't had the final twist and it just ended in a generic shootout. I could see the sequel disappointing tbh.

 Re: October 4-6 predictions
Batman was good. Audience reception was strong. That said sequel's potential is on how good it will be. I think Matt Reeves is much better as a director compared to Todd Philips. So it wont collapse like Joker 2.
On Joker 2 OW I am expecting 8-9m previews including early shows on Monday plus around 60m ish for OW.

 Re: October 4-6 predictions
Checked to see it Joker's sales really were as dire as prophesized ... and yes they are lol. The showing I had booked only had like 10-15 tickets sold (as of yesterday evening) and my entire row D was empty ... except for someone who booked a ticket right next to me? Cancelled that shit immediately. Not trying to make friends at Joker. I'll go see Transformers or Wild Robot again instead lol.

 Re: October 4-6 predictions
its looking worse than 2 days ago. With reviews/reaction being abysmal, its not hitting 50m at this point. final surge would be terrible as well. Just similar to Flash and Marvels last year. Anything DC is cursed at this point.

 Re: October 4-6 predictions
Twitter posts about mass walkouts are going viral How did this go from one of the surefire big films of the year to catastrophic career-ending bomb in the space of a few weeks

This is the worst performance for a sequel to a billion dollar movie besides Alice 2

Joker: Folie a Deux would have to top out at less than 140milWW total to beat The Marvels in that race to the bottom. Not a great club to be a part of, really, whatever the specific results end up being

BAD reviews and WOM will legit lose $20-30m from an opening weekend basically overnight. Add in a horrific marketing campaign? Easy to see how this happened. They rolled this out as if they thought everyone would love it and there be instant huge interest. Turns out the interest was likely heavily tied to reviews and they were not there at all.

Playing this at Venice backfired. In the end yeah, the first one worked great as a single film. This new one doesn't enhance it at all.

 Re: October 4-6 predictions
Every film with Joker featured in a prominent role has broken some kind of record (opening weekend twice, August opening and first film to one billion). He's America's favorite fictional villain.
