So let's put it at a crazy number of demolishing the R rated opening weekend record and having the 2nd highest superhero opening this year by beating Captain Marvel's 153.4 million

Sounds good but how many openers out of Gold Lion winners open this HUGE? Also in this age of release patterns its better to release movies in home media than have extended theatrical runs (which might also continue but the movies won't make much at that point).

He has a point. Women don't need only light disney fairytales. In any case, women can do well in dark and deadly roles; Underworld and Resident Evil were good for what they were.

My main question is whether the dark, gritty, r rated nature of the film will limit it demographically. However, horror movies have recently pushed the boundaries of what they can gross, and there weren't any pop stars like Billie Eilish a decade ago, so it could break records.

That was the most subversive and playful ending to a fight I've seen in a superhero movie.

It depends on who's on the judge panel which changes every year. This year the panel was headed by the director of Zama, a film whose narrative I think was a mess.

She also has a bias against Marvel.

I mean that would still be pretty fucking huge for this movie considering the R-rating and the lack of action/spectacle in the trailers. The hype for it is mostly coming from the Joker name anyways, and while reviews shouldn't matter all that much for the OW crowd they aren't bad enough to turn people away either.

Joker tickets are in sale since this morning and its off to a rocking start. I am predicting previews in 15-20m range based on looking at few key plexes across several cities. I think floor for this movie would be 110m. If the PS continues to be strong it could go higher. I am predicting 120/315 at this point.

So Joker is marked certified fresh even when the score dropped from 78% yesterday to 74% today and the Top Critics score moving down from 52% to 50%. From what I remember for certified fresh they need Top Critics to be above 70% right?
