Weekend Estimates
Godzilla - 49m Aladdin - 42.3m [53.7% drop] Rocketman - 25m Ma - 18.2m
If those #s stick, Godzilla barely made more than Aladdin without previews.

Re: Weekend Estimates
Previous Godzilla legs would put it at 105m total... eek. I'm guessing it'll be around 120m.

Re: Weekend Estimates
Aladdin had a pretty good hold overseas. Heading for 750m+ WW.

Re: Weekend Estimates
Yeah this was a very meh weekend. Godzilla, Rocketman and Ma failed to breakout while pretty much everything else dropped over 50%. This summer really needs to start picking up steam, but I doubt we will see anything resembling impressive numbers until TS4 which just goes to show you how ridiculously one sided the Disney domination has been this year. I am betting most studios are going to be more than happy next year when things are on a more even playing field.

Re: Weekend Estimates
I think Hobbs and Shaw will do well. But yeah, this summer looked pretty weak in general. July in particular is pitiful.

Re: Weekend Estimates
I am sure Once upon a time in Hollywood will break out Yuge. Hobbs and Shaw will do great especially in OS.

Men in Black, Annabelle should do fine as well. Once upon a time in hollywood will be big too. There really weren't many 200+ plus films outside of Disney this year besides Spiderman and Pets 2, and both will clear it with ease. But you still have two 450+ earners from Disney to go just this summer. Hobbs and Shaw looks like it'll do better than The Meg and San Andreas, maybe 63/170 which is more than great for it's two leads.

Re: Weekend Estimates
Guess 50 wasn't guaranteed. After watching that film, it felt very similar to the first Godzilla which I really like yet I wasn't a fan of this one somehow. The big complaint from the first film for viewers was not enough Godzilla and always cutting away from action well...the same dang thing happened here and all these human actors made it feel like Transformers to me in a way. It was quite frustrating. Now I'll still see Kong v Zilla and I absolutely Loved KK too so how I this didn't click idk.

Re: Weekend Estimates
Damn according to the actuals every movie was underestimated this weekend with the exception of Godzilla. That is just not good no matter how you spin it.
