Well the first teasers were pretty trashy. The most recent full trailer was much more engaging and interesting and actually got me back interested in watching it. |

That's relieving to hear. My reaction was based off the trailer in front of Aladdin, which didn't seem to muster much excitement based on what I could tell. This is a huge surprise it beat the Incredibles 2 pre-sales record. |

Its one thing to beat the previous movie released previous year, other thing is crushing it. I can tell its not just one off. Day 2 sales are well ahead of I2 and with all the press release its going to have cascading effect. I cant see it open below Dory at this point. |

I mean I agree that the trailers haven't been great, but the brand is still really strong and TS3 was very well received, so this one opening higher doesn't surprise me. I never bought into it going sub $400M let alone sub $300M. I think anywhere from $130-$150M is a great range for the OW. |

It would be interesting to know how many actual tickets any these records actually mean. For Incredibles 2 even, it might be less than 5% of the opening weekend tickets (presales from the first couple of days). |

TS4 has been ahead of I2 day 2 and 3 as well. Its not just one platform. Atom also reported strong PS. Anyway the question is not if it will beat I2. Some of them actually predict Pet2 to beat TS4. That is ridiculous. Pets 2 has crashed in UK and Russia and so prognosis for domestic is not good. its probably look at sub 200m domestic. There is greater chance of TS4 OW > Pets 2 domestic. |

Just seems like nobody really cares about any movie in June. Lion King (top 5 all time opening) , Spider-Man ($400M+) and Hollywood are all anybody is talking about. If Toy Story goes $150/$450M nobody will be that surprised because Disney, but it really has to step up its marketing or people might be fine with just waiting for it to launch with Disney Plus. |

The difference between I2 and TS4 is everyone always wanted a sequel to Incredibles and was waiting for it, whereas TS3 concluded a perfect trilogy with a good ending and a sequel can't help but feel more like a money grab. I don't think it unreasonable to have expected some drop-off. |
