Re: Thursday #'s/Previews
This is not a surprise at all. It was primed for breakout. 60m OW would be great. Can it gross 200m.

Also, he’ll join an elite group of actors who will have had films gross $100m+ in the last four decades. I think Hanks and Cruise are the only other ones but I’d have to check. He’s also potentially already poised to continue the steak next decade if Bill and Ted 3 breaks out. Dustin Hoffman has 6 decades from THE GRADUATE to LITTLE FOCKERS... Harrison Ford has 5 decades from AMERICAN GRAFFITI to STAR WARS VII

A Dog's Journey seems low, but Universal has very few family flops in this many theaters.

Plus many thought that was a sequel to A Dog's Purpose. Despite being an avid animal lover, I haven't seen any of them on the presumption that dogs die in the films. From what I gather, that is accurate. I get that death is part of life but doesn't interest me in PG family fare.

Re: Thursday #'s/Previews
I've seen both and enjoyed both. I'll see this new one but not sure I'll catch it in theaters like the other two since there's way too much coming out that I need to see more.

Re: Thursday #'s/Previews
Fantastic for John Wick. I don't see it hitting $60M unless it has a $25M+ OD, but a $50-$55M OW should definitely be in the cards for it which is huge for any R-rated action film these days.

Re: Thursday #'s/Previews
What's the closest comparison for a film series that had increases this consistent over the first three movies? I know Captain America and Thor technically count, but the nature of the MCU makes that one weird. The next closest is probably the F&F increases from the fourth to the seventh movie. Austin Powers technically did, but that had a massive increase with the second one and basically stayed level for the third movie.

Re: Thursday #'s/Previews
Toy Story 1 2 3. Adjusted Theres been about an 11% increase over the last film. Unadjusted it's about 30% increase for 2, and 70% for 3, but of course that is over 15 years.
Action movie wise. El Mariachi? Rocky Balboa-Creed II
The quality is what really has helped it. We've seen so many 2nd films get the bump that turn out disappointing, so the third inevitably drops.

Both JW and Bourne skew heavily to working adults and both series had increases with each continuing sequel

The growth in every installments is really impressive. The only franchises that come to mind in terms of growth is Twilight that stabilized after the second and Pitch Perfect that fell with the third.
