I think sonic got caught in that iffy redesign phase of films like Garfield, Yogi, Scooby, even the Chipmunks and smurfs.

People love Who Framed Roger Rabbit for many reasons. But why fuck with a property, it really doesn't cost much. New trailer is pretty solid. Could see Addams family numbers.

I'm still surprised we haven't gotten a Mario or Zelda film. Mario meets Bladerunner in the early 90s doesn't count. That is still one of the most fascinating vomit on screen films I've ever seen.

The redesign will help tremendously. Not only does it look better, but it tells the audience their opinion matters which is something that doesn’t happen often enough. If it open this past weekend, with the old design, I would have predicted ~$10M. Now it will make atleast double that.

I think this is gonna be a hit. Not as big as the first TMNT but will do surprisingly well.

... and then when they try to make a sequel it'll drop similar to TMNT 2.

The publicity really helps. It's entered watercooler. It's also the top 2 trending videos on Youtube.

When (if?!) this ever happens... It will need to be great. Because if it's great, it has so much potential.

I can see it getting to $100m. It wont be Pokemon but with a good release date and bad turned good buzz - this is looking good.

Sonic does look a lot better, but I'm still not sure if this movie is going to be any good. The positive reception is a great start going forward towards the rest of the marketing for this movie though, so I can definitely see it being a hit if they are able to keep the positive momentum going.
