Sonic the Hedgehog Predictions
While reception of the trailer is pretty poor, it’s getting a lot of interest. I could see it matching Angry Birds.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Predictions
Eek. I wonder if 100m gross would be enough for a sequel.
I didn't realize this was in November. I can't even bring myself to watch the trailer considering how horrid pics look.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Predictions
Yeah it doesn't look good at all.
That said, it should make decent coin in early December - perhaps $120-$140m.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Predictions
Kind of surprised this looks so crappy. This was Sega's iconic character. The cartoon series is actually well written and pretty funny.

Boys will see this instead of Frozen 2.

150K more dislikes than likes on Youtube but it's #1 trending two days in a row. The best comments are related to "making Will Smith's blue genie tolerable." As bad as it looks right now, it's getting a lot of attention for a long dormant brand.

It most likely will bomb, unless it appeals to families who will see anything

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Predictions
The floor is $24m opening and $75m total just off Sonic, Jim Carrey, and a broad spectacle appeal to children. But I could also see this getting some buzz from people that see it "ironically" (but secretly they love it), in which case it could make over $120m.

HOLY SHIT. Paramount announced because of the response to the trailer, they're CHANGING SONIC'S DESIGN!!!
Wowowow. Never seen a studio do something like that.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Predictions
Just watched the trailer and... it didn’t look awful? Looks like a kids movie. If Smurfs could gross as much as it did, I can see this grossing 100m+

Bomb in my opinion, it looks crap and Detective Pikachu comparisons are not good for it

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Predictions
Great decision by Paramount. There's room for improvement and this could improve the chances for future films. Sonic is still pretty popular long after the Sega consoles became history.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Predictions
Totally unneeded. It looks absolutely fine. This says more about Paramount than it does about the film.

I wish Paramount well with this considering the listened to the feedback.

Does it really look that different?
I don’t think the redesign will “save the movie” or anything. I’m seeing $40m tops.

What the fudge were they thinking with that original design?? That shit’s scary. Actually, they should have redesigned the character to be even scarier looking and just gone full uncanny terror valley with it. $100m surprise gross from the R-rated psychological horror film, Sonic the Hedgehog: Try and Run

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Predictions
I think sonic got caught in that iffy redesign phase of films like Garfield, Yogi, Scooby, even the Chipmunks and smurfs.
People love Who Framed Roger Rabbit for many reasons. But why fuck with a property, it really doesn't cost much. New trailer is pretty solid. Could see Addams family numbers.
I'm still surprised we haven't gotten a Mario or Zelda film. Mario meets Bladerunner in the early 90s doesn't count. That is still one of the most fascinating vomit on screen films I've ever seen.
