Re: April 5-7 predictions
Shazam- 39M (Critics may love it but to me it's not going to connect with GA in a big way. To me it's the worst DCEU film to date)
Pet Semetry- 15M (Too many remakes, Us is still going stong, and Lalorna is out soon)

Unplanned with a great expansion, adding 457 theaters. Pure Flix must expect it to carry well through Easter.

Good to see Unplanned doing well. It should continue to perform for the rest of the month.

Indeed. Pleasantly surprised by its performance. Should do good business over the next week or two.

More than one review calls the Pet Sematary ending distasteful. Without spoiling it, can anyone confirm if it's really that bad?

Pet Semetry- 15M (Too many remakes, Us is still going stong, and Lalorna is out soon) I thought Shazam! was better than any Marvel movie and audiences will love it. Pet Sematary should do better than that. Several people have already watched Us.

I doubt it will hold up well if it's solely inflaming people. It is generating discussion and that's not a bad thing. The movie was well done, IMO. As for the issues at hand, I'm sure most can guess by now where I stand on them.

You shouldn't have changed your original post, Libs. Better to go for the colorful language against that greyness.
You also shouldn't be surprised. There's always an audience for movies like this in the US. Now they have another hit...though the real hit they should get is a hammer on they *....* head filled with sawdust.

I can completely respect Omni's box office knowledge, experience, and insight even though discussing the film over coffee wouldn't go very well. And Libs has always been respectful, sans a time or two when I was admittedly an instigator and deserved it. Always enjoy hearing what she has to say.

Rolling Thunder is a nice guy, even if I fundamentally and demonstratively disagree with many of his opinions. So I made the post softer, lol. I'm not here to debate abortion because we'd be here all week. See, Americans can be in opposition but not call each other names, even in 2019!

There's only you and me and we just disagree? I know better not to break my cardinal rule of discussing politics with...well, anyone, really - is often a mistake, lol. If you can talk movies and leave me with something to think about or learn, it matters not what one believes on 'real-world' issues.

Leftists just need to come out with their own abortion movie as an answer.

I didn’t know that movie was about abortion. Weird I figure there would have been backlash

Re: April 5-7 predictions
There wasn't much backlash because the story felt real, and relatable to millions of women. And because it accurately depicted a serious subject in a real manner that wasn't insanely over the top and villainous.
Seems like the other "side" should try that approach. Stop making these insanely over the top films that treat women like villains.

TV shows have dealt with the issue better for the left. Maude was the first back in the 1970s.

It’ll turn a profit (i.e. not lose money). That’s good enough for me. Not expecting lengthy legs past Easter.

Re: April 5-7 predictions
Kept hearing those propagandists on Fox yelling on the screen:
"Keep politics out of entertainment for your own good."
"Movies are made to entertain, not to push your political agendas."
"Just shut up and pray."
Now let's hear this actress on our show to promote her movie with an important political agenda.
These people wear hypocrisy on their sleeves.

These people wear hypocrisy on their sleeves. They are not talking about single issue movies but mainstream movies that are not overtly about a social issue. There is no question that Hollywood uses films as a soapbox for their liberal leanings. The problem is that they do it in a subtle way and again, it’s in ALL our action, adventure and romantic comedies. They also have the advantage of owning the networks (several stations refused to carry Unplanned promos). They want to put forward a RBG documentary. Sure. Knock yourself out. That’s not what Fox was referring to. The rare time a movie espouses conservative viewpoints there is an uproar or whining on Twitter. At the end of the day Unplanned is making enough money to fund more films which will get made. Nothing changes that.
