Re: Early Friday #s
If that number holds, it should clear 150M for the weekend. Very impressive.

Re: Early Friday #s
So ~$43M Friday. Not likely to beat BvS but very likely top $150M. Very nice.

Huge numbers, however I'll wait and see its drops

Re: Early Friday #s
Great number. MCU has been getting frontloaded recently so CM's upcoming weeks will be interesting given that WoM is definitely not close to BP or IW from last year.

Re: Early Friday #s
Latest update has it at 62 millions. A neat Friday just above 40M is a biy worrying, especially considering it was Women's Day.

Still huge, however today's and tomorrow holds will give us a better picture of its frontloadness.

I doubt the "Women's Day" thing had anything but very minimal impact on it's gross. Our presales for Saturday are solid all day long. I wouldn't be surprised if it bumps 50% Saturday off it's true Friday, making 60M Saturday. Depends on walkups and night showings though.

Numbers keep falling down. Not a great sign for the weekend predictions but still HUGE numbers overall.

Huge OW.
I don’t anticipate steep drops. Doubt there will be a need for a What Went Wrong Thread. lol

First big opener is loooong time. Always exciting. Just think, Avengers Endgame could open with $100+ more...

Re: Early Friday #s
Great opening day numbers for CM. It might be somewhat frontloaded, but I'm confident it will cross $150M which is a HUGE win for Disney/Marvel regardless.

Didn't even realize this is the first 100+m opener since Jurassic World. Last year we had 5, this year we're looking at potentially 9? [CM, Avengers, Pikachu, TS4, Lion King, It Chapter 2, Joker, Frozen 2, Episode 9]

Yeah, those ones are the reason why I put potentially... although personally I think Pikachu will definitely smash 100m OW but I get why people don't think so. I think Joker will open with more than Venom so it all depends on its marketing and what not. It C2 will decrease from Chapter 1 but I think it can do over 100m still.

I was typing after reading the latest numbers from China (where WD inflated CM's Friday), and didn't remember the day had no impact on North America's box office.

Jury is out in Joker until we see the trailer and whether it comes across more of a blockbuster or a quirky indie type character study. Bottom end is Venom numbers but 100m is in play just not a given.

Re: Early Friday #s
Yeah I think Pickachu and It: Chapter 2 will get there as well and Joker is very likely too IMO. I mean if Venom can open to 80 than it shouldn't be too difficult for Joker to get to 100, even though I know it won't be that easy. The character still seems to be really damn popular among comicbook/superhero movie fans and if the trailers are solid it shouldn't be hard, especially if it ends up being a good film. If the RT reviews are great than that will only push it further.

The first Secret Life of Pets opened to 100m... I'm not sure if we'll see an increase but the first one did have good legs so that one is possible too.
If Aladdin had positive buzz that one should've been an obvious 100m+ opening too.

RTH reporting 53-54.5 for Saturday. That would be right below Ultron's Saturday number.

Secret Life of Pets will decrease significantly with more competition, and the fact the first is completely forgotten.
