Friday #s
HTTYD3 - 17.5 Alita - 3.1 Fighting With My Family - 2.5 https://www.boxofficemojo.com/daily/cha ... -22&p=.htmWelp. Alita probably won't hit 100m now. Lego Movie 2 will struggle to 100m.

Re: Friday #s
Outstanding for Dragon. Hope it can hit $65M.
Pretty light for Fighting but I think they really bungled the release. It changed so many times and then opens limited .. what? March doesn’t really have any comedies so legs should be decent.

Great for Dragon. The trilogy ends on a high note. I haven't seen it yet. I hope this is truly a finale.
Fighting with My Family always felt like part of an advertisement campaign for the WWE.

Re: Friday #s
The weekend number is only ~$55M. That is very frontloaded for a family movie in February. Did the $17.5M include those previews from a few weeks back?

I can't believe it only increased 24% on Saturday. That is nuts.

Re: Friday #s
Yeah the early projections seemed to have it coming in much higher, but it looks like the later showings weren't that strong. Even if this opening sticks I still think its pretty damn solid considering how much the second movie decreased from the first. This should at least match that movie's final total which isn't too shabby for a final entry in a franchise no one seemed to ever talk about, and I felt no buzz for it either. Alita fell pretty hard though and now its unlikely to cross $100M, especially with CM coming up and I guess you could say the same for The Lego Movie 2 although it still might barely cross the mark.
Fighting With My Family didn't do much of anything, but it couldn't have cost much to make, so it still might end up being somewhat profitable in the end.

Re: Friday #s
Adults like Dragon as much as if not more than kids so the low increase makes sense.

Re: Friday #s
The 2nd one decreased on Saturday so makes sense. Had it not had those early previews it probably would've increased less since Friday would've been higher.

Re: Friday #s
The lower increase makes sense based on what happened at my theater. Friday was very strong and the early evening PLF showing moreso. Strong young adult fanbase rush on Friday night. Saturday, the day was very solid, but the night, while good, did not match Friday night.
55M is a very good opening for this, especially when looking at how poorly Lego did. There is no competition until Captain Marvel, and WOM is excellent. If it can survive CM well, it could still get to 200M because the only competition for it until Avengers is Wonder Park and Missing Link.
