Damn - beat Insidious Last Key! Shows how starved the market is for horror.

Very good for it. Might challenge $23m for the weekend.

Totally didn't see that coming, even despite the favorable release date. Reviews are certainly good enough for what it is.

Not when compared to the loss of 5 young women/girls who died a few hours ago in a fire which broke out in an escape room in Koszalin, Poland.

Sorry for the offtop...

Oh I've been there with the endless beheadings and atrocities by ISIS the world was subjected to what seemed like daily pre 2017. The loss I spoke of was in a watercooler game. Life does go on despite daily deaths ya know.

I know, I somehow just wanted to mention this tragedy (I've never heard of people dying in an escape room in real life before) which disturbingly coincided with the start of "Escape Room" in theatres. And I just used your "loss" comment to do it. I didn't mean to start a conversation about the lack of importance of box office numbers in the face of such a tragedy.

The preview numbers are great.

$6.8M Friday with a $16-17M projected weekend. Pretty good. This spot continues to be prime for horror.

$6.8m Friday. More frontloaded than I thought. I was thinking $9m for Friday.

Last year, Insidious 4 made $2m in previews and $12.7m Friday+previews.
