I’m thinking 1.5-2m previews for Poppins.

Official number is 4.8m. Evening business was weak compared to the daytime, apparently.

Interesting to see if it will drop today, and if so how hard. Jumanji increased.

I'm going with a 28% drop today. Have updated my weekend prediction to be in line with Wednesday's numbers and am now going with 28.5 Million over the weekend and 36.7 Million for the 5-Day.

That seems like a harsh drop considering Greatest Showman only dropped 12% with less obvious family appeal. Jumanji even increased. I think it will stay above 4m.

Nah. Mike's losing his marbles if he thinks Bumblebee will go that low. It'll be good for $28 million. This isn't 1998 when only one movie could make above $25 million.

There is no denying that Aquaman will eat into Bumblebee's audience, and vice-versa, but people can see more than one movie in three days. ;)

High teens is possible. But you're losing your marbles if you think it's doing 28 Million or even close. :P

Avatar bet? Whoever's 3-day prediction is closest changes their avatar to what the winner says from now until the new year. So basically it's over/under $21m. You in?

I will probably say no. Not because I'm too worried it will go higher than 21 Million but I just don't see the point in an avatar bet lol. I do think it's going higher than my initial 14 Million prediction but still don't think it's going over 21 Million or even 20 Million.

Aquaman also isn’t doing so hot on MT for a movie projected to do double Mary Poppins or more this weekend. It’s still behind it and previews will be starting soon.

Could see underwhelming debuts for all the openers this weekend.

You might be right but Showman started smaller which helps a bit and was an original movies. Mary will likely be a tad more front-loaded at least as far as opening day vs. its second day. Plus neither Showman or Jumanji faced a big opener like Aquaman. The only other movies with Thursday previews were Pitch Perfect 3, Downsizing, and Father Figures.

Mary being ahead of it has more to do with that film having been out for the past day. On Fandango there's been 24,823 tickets sold for Aquaman for Thursday and 9,678 for Mary Poppins. For Friday there's 21,201 for Aquaman and 8,631 for Mary Poppins.

Deadline is saying 8-10 previews for Aquaman not counting Amazon screenings, which would be pretty great.

That would be very great. And even though I didn’t really like it, I think it will be enough of a crowd pleaser for the holiday season. If it gets $8M previews I’d guess a $33M opening day, $85M weekend (Sunday will be big), $315M total.

Poppins is doing deceptively well on Movietickets. 2/3 of what Aquaman is doing and double Bumblebee. But it’s expected to come in at 1/5 Aquaman and under Bumblebee.
