Mortal Engines is gonna bomb so hard. I don't see it opening in double digits.

I'm surprised the Deadpool release is in so little theaters. Doesn't seem like it'll make all that much if that's how many theaters it'll be in its whole run.

Spider-verse is really good, I'm expecting a 40m opening.

I was rooting for Mortal Engines, but it was probably going to flop with good reviews. Wouldn’t be surprised by under $10M now.

Spiderverse is a tough one. Could open huge, but I’m thinking mid 30s opening and ~$150M total.

I mean, Deadpool is only being re-released for the China release. They're doing the bare minimum for it. They know nobody is going to go see it unless they're dumb enough to think it's an entirely new movie.

SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE - 42.5 MILLION
THE MULE - 14.735 MILLION
MORTAL ENGINES - 12.9 MILLION

In Mortal Engines favor there has been no new movies for a couple weeks really so people may just be hungry for something new to see and might take a chance on it. Plus it has premium formats to boost its numbers. I have a hard time seeing it failing to reach double digits but either way it's definitely a bomb.

Spider-man will do well. I wouldn't be surprised if it cracked 40M this weekend.

I'm surprised at Deadpool's theater count. It seems like they've put a lot of effort into marketing it, and the marketing is fun. Marketing vs. 500 theaters for one week don't seem to balance. Weird.

I would have liked Mortal Engines to do better, but the writing's on the wall. 20M OW would be a bomb, and it might not do half that.

Should we prep the Mortal Engines: What Went Wrong thread now??

Only if you can find one person that thought it would be successful in the first place.

I am not sure the Deadpool holiday special was made for China. They could have made a PG-13 cut for China's censor during Deadpool 2's release. They did not.

I think the holiday special was made for the US market. They are eyeing it to be made available on the upcoming Disney streaming platform.

Strange. Because there are no Thursday showtimes for it around here.

Currently on Fandango it has sold 92 tickets for Thursday. 1,187 for Friday, 571 for Saturday, and 169 for Sunday. It's weird they wouldn't have Thursday showings everywhere.

No Thursday-night showings of The Mule in the D.C. market.

No reviews and little buzz for The Mule. Hard to tell how it will open but could be a problem for it.

A bit surprising, though Clint's fanbase is pretty loyal.

Average rating: 5.3. It may end up rotten.

A surprising 1,566 theaters for Once Upon A Deadpool. Could $10m be in play?

It probably was originally, but Princess Bride nostalgia has boosted interest enough to where its not being viewed as just a rerelease (even though it is).

Speaking of, is it Princess Bride remakequel time? Should be an easy story with Buttercup and Westley as parents watching their kids have an adventure of their own.
