Looks like Disney’s next big bomb. The source material is less popular than a Wrinkle in Time.

I see a performance on par with Nutcracker.

I'm kind of into the trailer, but yeah - in a year of heavy hitters something is going to slip through the cracks and tank hard.

I enjoyed the books alot when I was younger. And the concept of a devilishly clever child is easier to sell than whatever the plot of Wrinkle is.

That being said, the live action fairy tales are usually only successful if they are a remake of a movie people already like. So I think this will still gross the usual $100.000000000000001M.

Agree with the Nutcracker sentiment - I don't think this will be a big hit. Only thing is, Disney could market me reading the phone book and still make a ton of money.

Saw that trailer and had no idea what this was and for something based out of the UK they need to communicate what this is to American audiences better if they expect it to gross anything.

Watched the trailer. They only focused on the hidden fairy world and didn’t showcase Artemis’ personality at all. Dumb move. I take back my earlier positive comments.

Yeah standard $80-$105m grosser unless Disney can up the marketing next year.

A change in release dates may also be in order. It currently will be released 3 weeks after TLK, 1 week after Dora and 1 week before Angry Birds 2.

The name has more of a hook than A Wrinkle in Time and Nutcracker and the Four Realms. It at least feels like something I've heard of before. Not seen the trailer yet, though did see a meh poster for it.

This looks like it could have its niche, but there is no hook for people not familiar with the source material. It's gonna tank. 20m OW maybe less. 40-50m total.

Yep this shit is going to flop big time. It just looks awful not to mention them already upsetting the fanbase with all the changes. No idea what Disney was thinking when they greenlit this, because outside of HP these kinds of films pretty much died out after 2007/2008 unless I missing one that was a big hit.

Don't think Hunger games was targeted at kids.

Hunger Games was a YA phenomenon so it applies.

Harry Potter was a long series that moved from kids to Young adults as the fans grew along with the series. Do you really think the original Harry Potter and Hunger Games had the same target audience? Also as for YA genre, Twilight was also YA "phenomenon" but you cannot include that in comparison with Artemis Fowl.
