Decent number for BR. Very surprising to see ASIB actually increased 10% yesterday. So much for direct competition.

Abysmal for Nutcracker - ouch. Could it fall below BFG?
Nobody's Fool seems a bit disappointing but Perry's only had two misses below $15m. This doesn't feel like one of those.

Re: Thursday #'s/Previews
I'm guessing that all the midweek Halloween activity precludes families jetting out to see Nutcracker right away. It's more of a Thanksgiving kind of release so it could play through the holiday, though it's up against a hell of a gauntlet. In any case by day's end it will have already outgrossed the other 5 Nutcracker films.

I wouldn't say it's terrible for The Nutcracker. School night and all and it's not a huge event movie. Looking at an OW around 23-24 Million I think. Its total though will not be great.

But I’m not sure direct competition is much worse because of the subject matter. When there are sellouts ASIB becomes the obvious alternative. The audience is also big enough to expand the marketplace; ASIB will earn just a fraction of it final gross this weekend.
