Oh wow. I really thought these massive predictions were overblown. I guess I don't 'get' Halloween at all.

Re: Early Friday Numbers from RTH
Friday should be its biggest day. So maybe $20-$24m on Saturday and $15-$18m on Sunday for a weekend of $67-75m weekend?

This marketing campaign really put it into the phenomenon status for the series. The OW will outgross will outgross the grosses of every film in the series, and there is no doubt this will eventually outgross the original 7 films together.

Great number! I think it will be a bit more frontloaded than Venom and miss the record, but just being in the conversation is a huge success.

El Royale has a projected $5M weekend, only a 30% drop. That can’t be right ... right? Would be fantastic considering the competition.

El Royale is a good film. I quite enjoyed it even if it didn't live up to my expectations. I could see it having good WOM and solid legs. Shane it opened so low.

Official Friday number is $1.04M for it. Unless it has many groups going to see it today, it won't reach $4M, let alone $5M this weekend. DL messed up big time with it. Anyways, here is the official Friday Numbers. https://www.boxofficemojo.com/daily/cha ... -19&p=.htm

Wonder why First Man didn't do so well? Probably a 45% drop at best.

Re: Early Friday Numbers from RTH
Such an obscene amount of money for a Halloween movie. It's opening day alone has nearly beaten both the adjusted OW's of H20 and the 2007 remake. It should pretty much be a photo finish between this and Venom for the October record. I hope Halloween pulls ahead even if it's only by a hair just for the hell of it.

The Friday increase would have been impossible for a movie with a small Monday drop. Also, the weekday drops were too big for a 30% drop.

Re: Early Friday Numbers from RTH
I’m so glad that a star is born had a better Friday jump. Although it sort of needed it after Thursday. I think next week will see under 30%. Hunter killer is overall the weakest and least direct competition it will face.

Re: Early Friday Numbers from RTH
October's box office has been among the most interesting months to track so far this year. Pretty spectacular for Halloween. Really curious to see how its holds are given there's still another weekend before Halloween and the strong reviews.
ASIB looks like it will be one of the biggest movies never to get to #1 at this rate. First Man couldn't get any of the arthouse crowd or mainstream moviegoers so I think essentially has now become a non-contender for the Oscars. Very disappointing follow up to La La Land box office wise.
Venom is a crowd favorite and will definitely have a big OW for its sequel. All around a massive win.

Re: Early Friday Numbers from RTH
Idk, BO might not necessarily mean much to the awards, but it could mean it will be forgotten. Actually now that I think of it, BO does seem to matter for a bigger budget studio film.

The box office killed Steve Jobs’ chances. And that was a much better movie.

Re: Early Friday Numbers from RTH
It will still get some nominations but I think the box office has killed First Man's chances at a serious BP contender. Had audiences embraced it could have won, since the other two contenders are: A Star Is Born, which still has some iffs about it (Bradley Cooper's first movie, it's a fourth remake, starring a pop star, etc), and Roma, which is in Spanish.

Re: Early Friday Numbers from RTH
Box office absolutely can impact the Oscar race. Bullock would not have had a chance if The Blind Side hadn't become a box office break out. Every year has many examples of films that aren't real contenders because they don't resonate with audiences.
Especially given the plunging Oscar ratings, the Academy will absolutely pander nominations driven by box office runs.

Definitely on the higher end for drops (compared to other big horror movies). It was down 10.8%, The Nun 10.4%. This would be 15%.

Re: Early Friday Numbers from RTH
It would only need $20M Sunday to beat the record. Should be very achievable. Venom dropped 19% which would give Halloween $83M+.
