"It" had $13.5 million, right? So that roughly projects to a $70 million weekend for Halloween with the same multiplier as "It".

IT had a multiplier of 9.14, THE NUN a multiplier of 10.15...

Looks to me like a $70m opener...

Lower than the initial estimate but still solid. Probably wouldn't expect more than $30m Friday with that number. Walk-ups will be key.

Great number for Halloween. It's definitely going to be more walk-up friendly, but a $70M OW is nothing to be dissapointed about. A $30M OD would be massive for this.

DL reports Smallfoot surged 28% last night - are sneak-ins even a thing anymore with reserved seating? Unless Fall Break is the reason.

Tons of theaters don't have reserved seating yet.

Shouldn’t a franchise movie be more frontloaded than a breakout hit like it? It was down 51% in its second week; that’s not exactly a frontloaded comparison.

HALLOWEEN is a breakout hit in itself - calling it a franchise movie when all the other movies in the franchise did very, very different numbers is kind of strange...

It is a pretty solid number. Can’t help but be a little disappointed that the $10M estimate was not real though. Doubtful that $7.7M is enough to take the October record.

Agreed. I mean this is obviously great, and I would have been totally happy with it had they not thrown that 10 Million number out there.

We don’t know how much of the difference is due to frontloading. Friday had very different numbers at first as well. There’s no reason to think this will see a Star Trek style improvement in staying power.

Also, if this didn’t have the franchise name and history it would make a fraction of its OW. It was trailer driven, the business was almost all won by a successful campaign. It couldn’t take it for granted. You can call Infinity War a breakout hit, but you would never call it a sleeper; it’s just not the same sort of animal as Black Panther.

I don’t think the 10m rumors are a good sign. That sort of thing can indicate people are prone to overestimate the movie.

Mid 70s projection for the weekend. But the preview numbers were so far off that I’m not gonna take that too seriously. Come on $80M!
