How the fuck could Mary Floppins 2 increase 25%?

You have too much faith on that..... That's not happening

In 2012, the last time these dates aligned, it would make sense.

Mary Poppins will definitely increase from this weekend. People are busy this weekend getting stuff ready for Christmas. A female-skewing film will definitely suffer from this. But a lot of movies will increase next weekend so it's not just Mary Poppins that will. Though it will likely see one of the larger increases.

Jim Carrey's Grinch fell 40.5% the weekend after Christmas. I imagine a similar fate is in store for this one. Aquaman should win the season pretty easily.

Holmes and Watson is only releasing in ~2700 theaters? Well that is as obvious a warning sign as you can get. Floppppp. :(

Yeah it won't do great. Maybe 60-70 Million total. It's apparently awful which won't help. I was definitely off on that in the winter game.

No surprise it’s likely awful considering the lack of critic screenings, the terrible trailer, and the absence of Adam McKay at the helm. They certainly weren’t putting in the money to market the movie considering that one trailer was the only trailer for it. Nostalgia for a movie that's over ten years old doesn't cut it anymore.

LOL once again Zwacherm puts his bias projection on movies he champions when his expectations were too high to begin with. He has all second week movies dropping except for his Poppins

Well, he also put Second Act and Welcome to Marwen as increasing.

Aquaman and Bumblebee both appeal to more front loaded audiences (males, fanboys). I could have had Poppins increasing 70% like a Greatest Showman but I showed restraint. Musicals and family movies always hold far better than superhero or action movies.

Holmes and Watson makes no sense - Sherlock Holmes is supposed to be smart, but Will Ferrell specializes in playing dumb. I would have been more interested in the Other Guys model were Ferrell and Reilly are idiot detectives in Victorian England while Adam Scott plays Sherlock as their asshole rival

Ralph should have a good increase. The openers won’t take nearly as many screens this year. It also can benefit from decreased competition from the Grinch.

Actually it’s insane to say otherwise. Second Act and especially Marwen will be hurt when they lose showings because of their small openings and all the competition, while Aquaman and Bumblebee are not the type to increase. The only way it doesn’t happen is if Second Act somehow pulls out a small increase.

Edit: I’m almost certain Second Act doesn’t increase after that Sat drop.

The idea is supposed to be dumb Holmes and Watson.

It looks terrible, though.

A dumb Sherlock Holmes is not Sherlock Holmes. It's just a name at that point

With a bunch of the weekend actuals missing I haven't bothered making predictions for next weekend yet. For now I'll just say 7 Million Christmas Day for Holmes & Watson and 5 Million for Vice.

I'd be surprised if Holmes does 6m today. Vice seems to be selling well in my area though.

Both are selling great here but Vice is in a very small theater.
