I'm expecting something like $60-65 mil OW, with a $160-175 mil finish domestic.

Anything above that? I'd be thrilled.

The thing is that the film is reported to have a sub-100m budget which means that if it breaks 400m WW it's a hit. So its almost hard for this to really flop.

but I think in terms of really helping build the DCU brand, this needs to do 500m+ WW and have positive reception with audiences. If it can achieve that and WW2 is a $1B+ WW smash, DC will clos the gap between it and the non-Avengers MCU films.

it will DOUBLE Shazam's $364m box office gross.
That's the goal for it from me. If it doesn't than it's a FAILURE!!!! ;)

I think as a floor it needs to clear $150m domestic to avoid being seen as a disappointment.

I believe it will be good for $180-$200m thanks to a big opening weekend followed by a strong second weekend (long weekend).

The release schedule is pretty barren, only major "competition" is Sonic and that's gonna get families and such as opposed to this being Rated R. So idk. The premiere is more than a week before release so that's a good sign they may be confident in it.

The holiday weekend would've been a better release date but I guess at least it should have a solid 2nd weekend drop.

There's no need for such conservative predictions. I see no reason it can't open on par with Joker and gross over 200m.

I dont see this coming close to Joker. 60m OW is good target. That is higher than Shazam and unlike that movie there is no Endgame to take away the buzz. So with good reception it can have 60/170m run. I dont know about OS potential. this is hard movie to predict.

2.83 multiplier is crazy high for this IMO. Shazam had a 2.55 multiplier (its OW would have been slightly higher if it never had those previous previews) and that was pretty solid audience reception.

This will get slightly boosted from the fact that the weekend after has V-Day on Friday and Presidents Day on Monday so it should get a softer hold but I don't think anyone should expect anything more than 2.75 multiplier max even with good WOM.

Eh. If people were more on board than I could've seen an opening in the 80s but it seems like people aren't that hyped for it. Joker had massive buzz.

I think 60/160 sounds about right. If everything goes right and this had great reviews/audience reaction then higher but as of now I'm not seeing anything that high unfortunately.

This definitely does not have the save wide appeal of Joker. That’s why anything above $150m is not a given.

I liked the narration in the trailer. This is how to make medium budgeted movie profitable: wicked fun and action. Charlie's Angels could learn something from Harley Quinn.

This could pull a John Wick 3.

The studio asked Chad Stahelski (John Wick) to come in and redo the action scenes (3-4 weeks of reshoots). Isn’t that sexist? :-P

Isn't thi basically a sequel to Suicide Squad? That did over 300m, and Robbie's Harley Quinn was well received. We're expecting a 50% dropoff even with better potential reception?

Not really given the track record of indie darlings suddenly given huge budgets. Reshoots with the John Wick stunt team could've really punched up some of the bad franchise starters fumbled by the likes of Josh Trank, Marc Webb, and Colin Trevorrow. Shit Gareth Edwards is one of the more visually accomplished of this new trend and Rogue One still had heavy reshoots that almost undoubtedly made it better.

Just to say that I'm a big proponent of having accomplished action directors handle second unit shooting when the director has never made a big budget movie before.

Suicide Squad had a bigger cast and many set pieces. This looks like a mid-budget film like John Wick 3.

This can be called a spin-off of Suicide Squad with a much popular actor (now). This is definitely not a sequel to Suicide Squad.

I'm expecting a high 30s OW low 90s finish, about $250-$300M WW.

I feel there is not enough buzz for this. Are there any pre-sales or other indicators like YouTube views or something else showing breakout potential for this?

Early tracking is at 52m. I feel thst would just be okay but I’m also assuming it’ll be frontloaded and 52m would lead to like 135m at most .

Let's go gays.

A 50m opening would be ok. Hope hype increases and reviews are solid.

They're also reporting the film cost $97m. Good budget. 350m WW should be the absolute lowest.

This movie feels like such a NON EVENT IMO. The trailers haven't been bad, but they just haven't been all that great either. I don't know maybe its just me, but it felt like even Shazam had more buzz for it at this point, but we all know how that one turned out. If the budget is really under $100M than as long as it hits $350-$450M WW than it should make a good amount of profit for Warner Bros, but its hard seeing a big breakout right now.

it'll do 75% more than that 52m opening projection

I think this might make around 7 times what the 2019 Charlies Angels movie made. $125m. Which would be fine, because I agree with Dil in that this feels like a blah release right now.
