Post Will Disney get Incredibles 2 to $600 million?
Is there enough in the tank for I2 to get to Disney? Will Disney do what it did with AWIT and (currently with) BP to help it achieve that milestone?

Or, will I2 fall short?

It will hit 590m minimum. And Christopher Robin will probably boost it. I'll say yes.

It should get there, and I don't even think Disney will have to 'push' it. It's been displaying great late legs, dropping 31% this weekend to $5m, rocking a $2,700 PTA in its eighth weekend. With August weekdays and a boost around Labor Day, it should get there without any obvious fudging.

$600m is HUGE for an animated sequel to 2004's $260m grossing original. This movie slayed and I don't think any other animated movie will touch it for awhile, not Frozen 2, not Toy Story 4 (blech), nothin. Well done Incredibles team.

With this getting to $600 m, BATB getting to $500 m, BP at $700 m, I don't see very many scenarios where The Lion King doesn't do $750 m or more. It would have to be really bad to not get there. That hype is going to be a whole other level.

Black Panther and Avengers coming out this year overshadows what a great performance this is for Incredibles 2. 400 mil would have been good for it.

Adjusted gross
Shrek 2 - 658.6 million
Incredibles 2 - 583.1 million
Finding Nemo - 570.9 million

Yep that's true. I2 was HUGE specially considering the performance of rest of Pixar sequels from more beloved originals.

What was a more original beloved than Incredibles? Toy Story, that’s it.

Finding Nemo and Toy Story and probably even Monsters, Inc. (in hindsight with University it's easy to say it wasn't, but if asked around 2008 I think most people would have said they prefer it to The Incredibles).

Yes. Toy story and Nemo for sure. And I don't think it's a target that Toy story 4 will hit. I'm not sure about Monster's Inc. but I guess it's there in the mix.

To reach $600m I2 needs a 2.98x multiplier from the last weekend where it grossed $3.429m. That 2.98 multiplier is nearly identical to the 3.28 multiplier from the OW if its gross ended at $600m.

Boy do I know my way around multipliers. Let me tell you!

2.98 and not close to 3.28 specially for huge numbers of I2.

It actually needs a 3.98x multiplier (you need to subtract the weekend gross).

Which I think still should be doable with the Labor Day boost.

2.98 is the correct multiplier, imo.

But y'all do you.

If a movie opens to $25m and grosses $100m in the end we say it has a 4x multiplier, right?

$600m - $586.3m (I2's gross as of last Thursday) = $13.7m

Pretend this weekend's ($3.43m) gross was the opening.

$13.7m / $3.43m = ~3.98x

When I do multipliers during the run, I use the multiplier from the weekend on. So it would need a 2.98 from the weekend on. Mainly because otherwise you'd have to do what you just did, and go back to look at what the gross was prior to the weekend.

But again, this is all opinion.
