I expect a general modern blockbuster opening of $140m.

Re: June 22-24 predictions
EDIT: revising my prediction to $115 million. Yes I know that's very low. I just feel this is going to underperform big time.

Re: June 22-24 predictions
Its insanity to open this 1 week after The Incredibles. That will be one of the reasons this will indeed disappoint. I suspect a $125-$135m OW.

Jurassic World and Inside Out survived well together. It’s just reversed this time.

Re: June 22-24 predictions
This for sure won't reach the level of the last one but this was also a rare event. It completely out of the blue took the OW record. No one was even close to predicting that from what I can recall and we were so far off with the first one. There's always the chance lightning can strike twice and that we're greatly underestimating it again. The JP franchise is iconic after all and I feel the summer can expand for both Incredibles and Jurassic World, especially with so few other event films.

Re: June 22-24 predictions
Jurassic Park is iconic but it also has a history of massive drops from one film to the next

Re: June 22-24 predictions
Jurassic Park III had an $81m 5-day which was pretty strong (even if it dropped from TLW).
The franchise did break the OW record 3 times which is pretty amazing.

Re: June 22-24 predictions
I'm thinking around 150M. Not going to drastically underestimate the potential of a JP movie, regardless of competition.

Re: June 22-24 predictions
I just feel like middling reviews + Incredibles have sucked out the hype from this. It really should have moved to late July, no World Cup and it would have sent Mission Impossible and the other films there scurrying away.
Also, it's at #2 on MovieTicket with only 10%. Is that bad? It opens in two days basically. I don't know how to gauge MovieTicket.

Re: June 22-24 predictions
The Jurassic movies don't really have a fanboy fanbase that NEEDS to buy tickets in advance, it's more that it has extremely wide casual appeal. The fact that Jurassic Park III, a sequel to a not-well-received sequel with barely any hook could still have one of the biggest five-day openings of all time when it opened is pretty wild.

Re: June 22-24 predictions
The DQ Jurassic Chomp Blizzard was good, but outside of that, I sense no excitement for this JW. We won't achieve a WWW thread but all the chatter that was present last time is a memory. Incredibles 2 squashed what little momentum it had going.

Re: June 22-24 predictions
Idk. I went to a screening last night and it was full and they turned away at least 100 folks. Lots of families. Lots of kids. Certainly won't be anywhere near the 1st JW opening but it should handle I2.

Re: June 22-24 predictions
Yeah I wouldn't underestimate this dumb franchise. As much as I'd love to see it open with "only" $110m, I think a repeat of Incredible 2's opening ~$180m is much more likely.

It's a small sampling, but I know a handful who have zero interest and I have to imagine that sentiment extrapolates on a larger scale.

Re: June 22-24 predictions
Am I correct this could be the first time in B.O. history we'll have two films earning $100m+ for the weekend?
