Tag looks like a late-August sleeper hit. Honestly can’t believe it is coming out this week.

I must be totally disconnected with Superfly. Is there significant anticipation for this?

Future curated the soundtrack with a bunch of his buddies, ala Kendrick with the Black Panther soundtrack. Not sure if that will translate into box office, but awareness will be high among the target demo.

Personally I'm kind of excited to see Incredibles 2, far more interested than I was for Finding Dory. But I don't think general anticipation is as high. Will be interesting to see its gross.

Never heard of Superfly. And Tag seems like it could have been a hit, in another month or another era. That poster is awful.

I think Incredibles 2's problem is that the marketing makes it look exactly the same as the original. The posters are indistinguishable from the first. Where are the flashy new supporting characters? Who's the new villain? I've been exposed to months of marketing for it and I still can't tell. At least Dory had the whole aquarium setting that made it stand apart from the first one. It's still going to open huge, but I don't think as huge as it could've been.

The fact that there hasn't been an animated/family film in awhile will do wonders for Incredibles. I see 135m+.

I feel like Tag will do just ok. I think with bigger stars attached it could've done 20m+ but i see around 12.

Yeah, that matters to kids. Oh yeah, no it doesn't! Finding Dory is a perfect example.

What company is distributing Tag? Because they are greatly hurting its OW

The moment Superfly's Teaser trailer was released it was DOA. The community has major backlash against it for 2 reasons. #1 you dont remake a classic especially without a Curtis Mayfield soundtrack... Future is no Kendrick. #2 After Black Panther there is no interest in going backward with wanna be Gangsta/ dope boy stories. No way this does 5 million in the first 5 days.

I don't think they care. They did a similar thing with 12 Strong (released same weekend as Den of Thieves).

TC estimate for Incredibles 2 at BOM increases to 4,400!

I saw an article today saying that Incredibles 2 will open to $130m. So I guess that's the benchmark now. If it falls below, it's failed. If it's above it's done well.

Superfly is DOA. We've assigned it a double digit auditorium - generally those are for holdovers 3+ weeks in release.

I'm doubtful it will even hit $1m today.

Kentucky is 91% white, so no surprises there.

This is a noticeably different type of black picture. No star, no franchise precedence, etc.

It scraped by with $1.2m. Bombs away.

So, who is pumped up for Tag?
