AQUAMAN, ALITA and BUMBLEBEE opening on the same date is just crazy - the three movies share too much of the same audience, especially with MORTAL ENGINES and SPIDER-MAN in their second weekend...

Have the studios gone completely mad?

I got hint of a rumor that Aquaman will be moving up a little. (and James Wan said a trailer is coming soon)

Animated Spider-Man = Flop
Alita = Flop
Mortal Engines = Flop

So it's really only Aquaman and Bumblebee that will be grossing anything significant.

Really dumb release date for Aquaman.

Agree with this. Alita & Mortal Engine must move if they want to make a dime

Depends if Aquaman is dark and gothic, then Christmas suits it. But yeah, I agree with the rest. Mortal Engines and Alita: Battle Angel will most likely flop. But I have a hard time calling Into the Spider-verse a flop because I doubt it cost much, and animated superhero flicks rarely even get to the cinema, so it's already won. And it'll probably make $35-50m, which is fine for it.

Something should move to November 2nd. Or at least November 9th.

My hope for Mortal Engines dwindles with its trailer not much better than the inexplicably shit YA sci-fi genre.

That said, nothing else looks really good either.

Spiderman's alright. Alita's awful. Bumblebee is tired. Aquaman...was there a trailer? Think there was but not really interested.

I don't think I've seen a trailer yet for Aquaman. Maybe I did but if so then it's forgettable.

Haha whoops I am misremembering the Justice League trailer I think? Or not.

Thought there was a scene with him underwater with some mermaids...

TDS said Aquaman was awesome

He also said Wonder Woman was good, and that turned out to be a turd. So I wouldn't put much value in TDS's opinion on DC flicks.

Ahh yes, Wonder Woman, known bad movie.

Why would I suddenly start speaking for everyone? I am, of course, speaking for myself, as I always do (hence the "So I wouldn't put much value in TDS's opinion on DC flicks.".

Guess you missed putting "I thought it was a turd". Because stating that it was, would be incorrect.

I'm the one saying it, so it goes without saying.

Yet you said it in the next sentence, so it obviously doesn't.

But hey, you like to pretend you're smarter than everyone in the room.

I clearly am if it's just us in the room.

So Alita is gone but there are 5 new releases for the week (Mary Poppins, Aquaman, Welcome to Marwen, Second Act and Bumblebee) with 3 holdovers from the previous week... still pretty crazy.

Mortal Engines seems like such a huge bomb, would be surprised if it makes 20m+ overall.

Plus the Deadpool movie.

It's just a "limited engagement" because they know it's not making anything and they won't push it because it's only happening so it can get a China release. So it barely counts.

But if anything it's more crowded than it was when the releases were made up of obvious flops like Alita and Mortal Engines. Mary Poppins and Aquaman will do great, and so will Spider-Man but on a smaller-scale.

Anyway, it's Christmas week. There's plenty of money to go around to the movies people are interested in.

Bumblebee should have moved to January. It would have the month all to itself there. Instead it will be cannibalized by Aquaman (teen audience) and Mary Poppins (family audience).

I think anything above the last Transformers film domestically would be a win for Bumblebee. If it does less than that then yes, it shouldn't have tried to compete.

It still has a lot of trailer views.
