The early estimate was $7.5m , which would have been a “will it miss $200m???” type of number. This is still bad, but not quite a disaster all things considered.

Book Club is having a pretty nice run.

Pretty decent numbers for UPGRADE, I'm gonna watch it in an hour or so... (I'm still in L.A.).

Is it just me or does UPGRADE look exactly like VENOM without the black stuff? Even the main actors look similar...

The trailer for Action Point looked like it had potential. Like Jackass meets an 80s comedy like Meatballs. But they needed the Jackass name to make money.

Bad for Solo and Action point. Rest of the movies did fine even DP2

Solo's true week-to-week drop is actually 61%. And for a Star Wars film, I don't think it's so alarming that it has a steep drop from opening to second Friday, is it? Rogue One dropped 68%. TLJ dropped 76.3%. These films have such huge upfront demand that the second week can never keep up.

So, after 8 days Solo is in the same territory as Godzilla, War of the Worlds, Despicable Me 3, and Logan. lol

Solo tanking is the best news in the world for Deadpool 2 and Infinity.

Yeah I feel $300m for DP2 is possible now. Great for IW as well. Overall very nice holds other than Solo and Show Dogs.

TPM sucked in quality but it over performed at the box office

Its box office run, and AOTC's huge OW (3rd biggest 3-day at the time), would seem to indicate TPM had really good word of mouth.

I don't think it did. It was more "we'll give Lucas the benefit of the doubt, let's find the positives!", and I think people were pumped because of the Darth Maul clash which it ended with.

The franchise has just been getting more front-loaded over time much like Harry Potter did.
