There is a slight chance but I'll be out. Rampage had bigger movie in its third weekend but this will have Equalizer 2 next weekend and then MI6. I just can't see it surviving those and it's not opening big enough.

It will have summer to help it, but even from a $45m opening, I see it failing to make $100m because it is a shit film not even made for the US market.

In. The Rock is a big draw and July doesn't look too crowded. The fact it doesn't look good means very little.

Why does this do more than Rampage? Even without Avengers to hurt it, it’s hook is much less appealing than the Rock vs giant monsters

It is summer. You can't argue with that. Not sure what the hell he's on about after that, though July doesn't look too crowded as Omni said. I mean, I could see it gross $120m but I could also see it flop with $65m. I'm way out of this club because I vote with my heart: looks shit, not in.

The "giant monster" thing has died: Transformers 5 failed, PR2 bombed, Rampage didn't do badly thanks to The Rock (and the movie being enjoyable) despite being sandwiched between PR2 and Avengers. In fact it's quite the opposite...if Rampage managed close to 100M despite everything, why couldn't Skyscraper do more?
Wide range for this should be something like 75-150.

Well, terrorist/hostage flicks aren't exactly setting the box office alight. But granted, it was longer ago that they went out of fashion, so perhaps a resurgence is due.

This looks beyond generic but The Rock can pretty much open any PG-13 actioner with ease. I'm not betting against this one. Will at least match Rampage's OW.

Other than that terrific first poster, everything about this looks tired. The second trailer is basically the entire fucking movie which reeks of desperation. I also think that audiences are bound to start suffering Dwayne Johnson fatigue with three tentpoles in just six months. Out.

I dig these retro style homage posters. Not only the execution, but the frankness of them saying "look, we know what this film is, you've seen it before, but this time it's The Rock doing it, you'll probably enjoy it".

This was a pretty big fail for a roughly even sided club, good calls from everyone who was out.

Was it really a good call to say this wouldn't gross $100m? I'm not convinced. Admittedly, in the early days (say, the KJ Draft picking days in November 2017) I thought it had the potential to do it (on paper), but even months before its release it became pretty clear that it wasn't going to be Die Hard mark 2. Dwayne's not having an A-list time of late. His last three non-franchise movies have failed to hit $100m. He needs at least one outside of Fast and Jumanji in the next two years.

But kudos on coming back to this and marking it as failed. None of the other members have such strength of character.

Yep this was a hard fail and while I still haven't seen the movie from what I've heard it makes sense why it didn't break out. I believe the Rock's overexposure is what hurt it the most though.

Agreed. If Rampage hadn't happened just a few months prior this would have done much better.
