Captain Marvel seems to tie heavily in to the third and fourth Avengers movies. I think there will be a lot of interest based purely on that. I know there’s no marketing yet, but I think it opens over 150m. |

Until we get a trailer I think Doctor Strange is a pretty good benchmark for this. It obviously has the potential to do much more, but it's hard to say without seeing anything official. Avengers 4 should definitely help push it though just like with BP and IW and vice versa, although I doubt it will reach those levels. |

It has the hook for first MCU female superhero solo movie and it would be helped by A4 but its definitely not reaching BP's heights, specially because WW exists in this case. But I see it matching WW's OW $100m, don't think it will do $150m+ OW. |

I would assume anyone that cared enough to stay for the end credits either A) got the clue, B) had a friend with them that got the clue, or C) was confused and maybe checked out one of several explainer articles online that delved into it. |

Even if they didn't get it, you can be sure that Marvel is going to let people know how important Captain Marvel is to the outcome of Avengers 4. |

It comes before Avengers 4 and that's mostly to introduce the character before the big finale. They will surely have a scene where CM gets the message from Fury BUT that will generate buzz only after its release. Regardless Captain Marvel's impact in IW isn't as big to easily blow past $100m OW. I think its going to do REALLY well but those $150m+ seems difficult to me. If it does I will be surprised to say the least. |

Well, DC certainly beat Marvel to the first female superhero thing. But at this stage you just cannot rule Marvel out of another huge "surprise" hit. I expect it to top Wonder Woman, if only in opening. |

The movie is set in the 90's. Teasing the message in the trailer wouldn't make any sense. The only connection you'll see to Infinity War is the post credits scene. |

I agree with Magnus just because BP and IW opened that big not every movie is guaranteed $150m OW. Take all the MCU origins movie other than BP only Spidey did more than $100m. Now the increase that Doctor Strange saw make me believe that even these solo movies have increased the demand due to the brand but from $85m to $150m is a VERY big jump. |

I don't think that would be bad opening for CM That would be ok/good, but my thoughts are that (a) the character has been ordained as the key to part 2 of Infinity Wars which really boosts its significance in a way that Dr. Strange couldn't touch (b) it will add females audience in a way similar to how BP added black audience (though to a lesser extent, since we regularly get action females) and (c) Wonder Woman's success despite BvS sucking. |
