Although I love the DCEU after JL's failure last year I think the franchise is done save for WW2. Who's in for a less than 75m opening weekend which would put it lower than Black Panther's Opening Day.

Interesting though I would like to see a trailer before I commit but then WW didn't open HUGE out of the gate.

Nobody gives a shit about Aquaman, who was totally bland in JL. I'm in for sub-75M opening week. Possibly even for Aquaman's OW < Bland Panther's first Monday.

I hope so, but DC has not ignited any goodwill from General audiences, so us fan boys have to at least keep the universe alive until hopefully Flash Point but looks like that may be canned if the latest reports are true.

This won’t be hard. A 75m opening for Aquaman would put it on pace for at least 300m domestic with it’s release date.

WONDER WOMAN has a better second act, AQUAMAN has a better first and third. Not as emotional as WW but better action. It's DC cribbing the Marvel template but doing it pretty well.

Audiences have been eating up new/fresh super hero films. If this one looks and is good, it will do well. $75m opening weekend is not big.

I'd love for this to happen, but I don't see it. The last superhero films to open below $75m were X-Men: Apocalypse and Ant-Man, and I don't see Aquaman hitting those lows. Modern day cinemagoers will just see anything that is superhero-related, regardless of franchise reputation.

But its also December and movies do open lower in the month if they are not SW.

I think this one breaks out if it is truly good and marketing is not a mess.

Those are pretty much the only "IFs" that DCEU had problems with.

Aquaman is kind of doomed. It stars the duo of box office poisons, Jason Momoa and Amber Heard, comes from the superhero studio of critical poison, DC, and is a character that is so bland that nobody cares for. So anything it makes will be impressive.

I think Momoa is fine in his role as Aquaman and something that people won't be distracted. He has done too little to be called "poison" though Amber Heard has definitely earned that title.

TDA has good taste and Aquabro was well received in JL.

In what universe? Certainly not this universe or the DCE universe.

Aquabro was interesting and decent character but I wouldn't call it "well received" in the likes of Spider-Man and Black Panther in CA:CW.

So sure, this is possible, but I'm looking at probably $85-90 mil. Which should be good for a $300 mil total.

Is everybody forgetting this is a December opening? It will probably get a 4X multiple. Anything over 50m is a win, considering it will drop less than 30% weekend two. This is not Star Wars. No one is waiting with bated breath for Aquaman. It's going to be a general audience film.

Only possible way this does 300M is that the December schedule looks relatively poor, and that Christmas can potentially turn a 50M grosser into a 100M one.
