Re: Avengers 4 predictions
Trailer isn't great. IW left a lot to live up to and Marvel are holding back.

Re: Avengers 4 predictions
There’s still no money shots in the trailer which i guess makes sense but I feel like they should just stop making new trailers if they’re hiding everything else.

https://deadline.com/2019/03/marvel-ave ... ssion=trueLol mess. I did notice she was initially the only one on the poster who didn't have their name on it.

Re: Avengers 4 predictions
Has there been a bigger blockbuster movie that has come out where the plot is virtually unknown, and little to no footage being shown in trailers? Maybe Force Awakens??

Perfect poster and trailer. The less they show the better. No.1 film of the year! 275m+ OW (unless the long running time makes an impact).

Re: Avengers 4 predictions
The poster, sure. But the trailer being perfect? No way. I agree it's best to show little, but you still need to make it epic. What I saw was not that.

I think the trailer does exactly what it needs to.

Re: Avengers 4 predictions
Great trailer but it didn’t end with tickets on sale now so I’m thinking there’s one more trailer (shorter) with action/hype coming in couple weeks

Re: Avengers 4 predictions
I got no issues with the marketing so far. Love the fact they are hiding so much of this movie in the trailers, but I can understand why some aren't into it. They still need to promote tickets going on sale so we could get some kind of big action heavy mini trailer in the next couple of weeks.

Re: Avengers 4 predictions
If they keep with this showing nothing, Endgame will have the epilogue effect. Infinity War will act as the real finale, with Endgame just seeming like that last 20 minutes of Return of the King.

Somehow I always feel that Endgame buzz is less than Infinity War.OW record will not be broken.

It'll open with more than Infinity War. I could see OD being very close to Force Awakens.

Re: Avengers 4 predictions
lol they're really trying to make it a ~shock~ when Spider-Man, Black Panther, etc. all magically regenerate. I commend the advertising for basically hiding the whole film, you don't see that ever with blockbusters anymore. I don't think we've ever seen a huge film like this look so low key in the ads. We really have no idea what to expect going in.
What the trailer did highlight for me was that despite their enormous success, the MCU films have very little in the way of geniunely iconic moments. It's more about the characters themselves. They were struggling a bit with those montages, I watched all those films and barely remembered any of those scenes. What film was even that 'Tony Stark has a heart' thing from?

I feel this will gross less than Infinity War. I think the boring marketing will hurt it enough.

I can see why you would think that, but in all honesty if people weren't already on board to see this after IW than they likely weren't going to show up anyways because everyone else is definitely showing up. Trailers or no trailers the hype for this is there, and I think we can already get a sense of it considering how well Captain Marvel is doing. I'm sure some of it has to do with general WOM being pretty solid overall, but I believe most of it stems from people wanting to see how it ties into this movie.

Re: Avengers 4 predictions
I think the Part 1 and Part 2 will hurt it. We keep thinking that only online nerds know about that, but that's not true. The moviegoing public (and especially the fanbase for these films) are all nerdy these days, they know a lot. Endgame even feels like an aftermath part 2.
But they are not yet done with the marketing. There will be more, so let's judge it more later.

Re: Avengers 4 predictions
From historical data Part 1's are impacted more with the gimmick of splitting and not the other way around.

Re: Avengers 4 predictions
It is different this time. Firstly, this isn't a "part 1/part 2" scenario. The first was called Infinity War and the second is called Endgame. Which sounds more epic? Of course, the war one. And all the epicness seemed to have happened already. All Endgame has going for it is for a few Avengers to come back to life. Big deal. Which is why the marketing needs to ramp it up, otherwise it will drop off. Needs to hint at epic conclusions. It's at risk at the moment of feeling like a subdued epilogue.

Re: Avengers 4 predictions
No - I think this one will gross more.
The MCU keeps building to the end of this current Thanos/Infinity stones storyline and the growing audience are looking forward to this immensely - especially after the Infinity War cliffhanger (well sort of).
This will increase - probably by 10%.
