Ant-Man & The Wasp > Solo (DOM + WW)
This would have been bolder a week ago but better late than never.
Marvel is about to cement themselves as THE blockbuster franchise. A&tW will benefit from Marvel’s hot streak and Ant-Man having since stolen the show in Civil War.
Who else is in?

Re: Ant-Man & The Wasp > Solo (DOM + WW)
This won’t be difficult with all those summer weekdays and it’s position as the last four quadrant movie of the summer. Everything else appeals to just kids or adults.

Re: Ant-Man & The Wasp > Solo (DOM + WW)
So, am I reading this right...this club is Ant-Man and The Wasp WORLDWIDE over Solo DOMESTIC + WORLDWIDE?
This is still a bold club! So we have to project the worldwide total for Solo, then add on top its domestic (which was already included in its worldwide, but anyway), which will be about $600m, I guess, then judge whether AatW gets over it? Jeez.

Too easy. Make it Ant Man and the Wasp WW > 2x(Solo WW)

Re: Ant-Man & The Wasp > Solo (DOM + WW)
Ant-Man only made $520m worldwide. And that came out 2 months after Age of Ultron made $1.4b.
Just dropping that in there.

Yeah after Solo's opening this is kinda easy but I still feel that domestically this will be close.

Just dropping that in there. Yeah, but when you make a club, it has to be at least a little bullsy. Solo possible ranges: DOM: 210/250M OS: 150/210M WW: 360/460M Of course Ant Man 2 has no chance of doing more than 900M, but it certainly has more than just a chance to make more than 720M.

Re: Ant-Man & The Wasp > Solo (DOM + WW)
Shouldn't a club with these movies go in the other direction at this point? ANT-MAN AND THE WASP isn't going to gross less than its predecessor.

Re: Ant-Man & The Wasp > Solo (DOM + WW)
Funny that Mission: Impossible - Fallout could finish higher on the yearly list than Solo: A Star Wars Story. Heck, even Nutcracker could at this point. Is Solo even guaranteed to finish the year in the top ten?

Yah I’m in for this. It’s definitely going to get a boost due to IW

Re: Ant-Man & The Wasp > Solo (DOM + WW)
Yeah. Let's say it does $240m. Films that will/could go above it: Infinity War, Deadpool 2, Black Panther, Ant-Man 2, Incredibles 2, Jurassic 2, M:I-6, Grinch, Fantastic Beats 2, Wreck-It Ralph 2, Aquaman, Holmes, and Mary Poppins.
Some of those are iffy, but they "could" all top $240m. Solo could finish anywhere from 8-12 in the yearly ranking.

Re: Ant-Man & The Wasp > Solo (DOM + WW)
Good marketing buzz + good will from Infinity War. In.
The Fox shareholder vote on Disney will be weeks prior to release so maybe there's time to sneak an X-Men character in if all goes well. :-D

Re: Ant-Man & The Wasp > Solo (DOM + WW)
If Solo does $240m then I this will fail domestically. This feels like it will be closer to Thor than CA in terms of first sequel increase from the original also its similar to The Dark World in terms of cameo from other Avengers which I think boosted TWS a little bit (and the fact that it was a GREAT movie).
