Re: April 20-22 Predictions
This is a great weekend for Rampage, A Quiet Place, Blockers, and Truth or Dare to capitalise on the dearth of big new releases. All should see decent holds, and of course A Quiet Place's should be below 25%.

Re: April 20-22 Predictions
Agreed. You do need these empty weekends to help the holdovers, especially prior to a major four quadrant release.

Maybe Rampage can hold as well as Ready Player One week 2? Fingers crossed!

Re: April 20-22 Predictions
Given the good WoM I think Rampage will hold well but ofcourse all these movies will die the weekend after. As for the openers I am sure we will see a few turds.

Well, Overboard will probably open around 11 Million I'm thinking. But still nothing that will do any damage. I don't blame people for wanting to avoid Avengers though. I actually want to see all three openers more than Avengers .

Re: April 20-22 Predictions
I'm most interested in Super Troopers 2. The original is kind of a massive cult classic. Even so, the audience is limited and if it's opening in only 2000 theaters, it probably won't hit double digits. I'd love to see it happen though.

Re: April 20-22 Predictions
I saw a lot of my regular Facebook friends sharing the Super Troopers 2 news over the last year or so, although that excitement has seemed muted in the last couple months, so I'm not sure if it's paying off. I feel like the predictions here are still too low, though?

Jack Sparrow wrote: ST2 will bomb. I think it will be another Sgt. Stubby That's a really weird comparison lol. Not to mention it won't do anywhere near THAT little. I just think it's another comedy sequel coming out way too late. Yeah it has gained a big cult following but that never seems to pay off for movies happening this long after their originals. Should see a 4/20 boost on Friday though. Won't be surprised by a small drop Saturday.

Re: April 20-22 Predictions
I swear I Feel Pretty came out of nowhere. I had no idea there was a new Amy Schumer comedy coming out, particularly compared to the enormous promotional campaigns for Trainwreck (successfully) and Snatched (not so much). Maybe I am just on the wrong wavelength.
Super Troopers 2 might have a decent opening day because of a hyper-specific niche fan base and the 4/20 synergy (the first movie to try to capitalize on this since the excellent Bob Marley documentary six years ago), but it will then fall from the face of the earth.

Re: April 20-22 Predictions
I could see Super Troopers getting a $4m opening day, maybe $4.20m if the studio gets cute. Even with that, it will still end up under $20m total. Probably way under.

That's so weird. Did you just notice it this week? I get the trailer with everything at my theater.

Re: April 20-22 Predictions
We got the trailers for IFP 2 weeks back but I agree what David is saying, given that Schumer is becoming famous, it could have benefited from a better promotion.

Re: April 20-22 Predictions
The move from June 29th to April 27th happened in the middle of February though, and then it moved up again but just a week earlier. Trailer didn't release until February. I've seen tons of promotion since then though. It should be enough for it to do solid business.

Re: April 20-22 Predictions
Didn't realize that it moved from June to April. I wonder why? It could still have done well in June.
