Rampage can really go either way for me. I think it may just do a "modest" high 30s opening, which will be fine enough as it should do well OS. At the same time, I don't see why a lot of the same audience that showed up for San Andreas won't show up for Rampage so a 50m OW wouldn't shock me. It's definitely a movie that could see lot more walk-up traffic and not show as strong of tracking signs.

Truth or Date usually would be a safe teen horror bet but I think they messed up by releasing it right after A Quiet Place. They should have pushed it to April 20th (or had it open last week before). I think it's missing out on 15m.

Friday the 13h tho.

But yeah, it's gonna get hurt. But it's another cheapo Blumhouse flick, so it should make money regardless.

I totally agree on Rampage, it seems like a bit of a wildcard. Ready Player One and Black Panther have been the only real action blockbusters this year, so maybe that will help it out, but buzz seems a bit muted.

I feel like Avengers is hurting it moreso than expected.

Rampage - 50
Truth or Dare - 15

As much as I hate being that guy I think anything under $50M would be disappointing for Rampage. RPO still went over $40M even with a Thursday opening and AQP is looking to go past that mark as well. The Rock is coming off a HUGE hit with Jumanji and it's the first action heavy tent-pole blockbuster since BP. Other than reviews possibly being awful there is no excuse for it not to open big IMO.

San Andreas didn't have great reviews and still got past $50m so I guess that is the target for Rampage. I don't think Rock coming off Jumanji is a bigger factor here than Rock coming in another action movie. The tagline "Big meets bigger" is clearly indicates him as the "big" even though it will eventually be the Gorilla and flying wolf meeting the crocodile.

I will be surprised at that still AQP will hurt it more overall. Friday the 13th might get ToD past $15m mark but after that OD it will fall like a rock.

While Rampage looks like a definite $60m opener, I just get the idea that audiences might be a bit sick of Dwayne and/or destruction movies due to Jumanji and Pacific Rim: Uprising not being released too long ago. It might be a little early to see Dwayne fatigue, but it should definitely be present for Skyscraper (plus because that looks crap).

Destruction movies definitely feel like been done to death and fatigued but its also the creature feature mixed with that sub-genre here. Creatures can still get families and teens along with Dwayne but yeah Skyscraper which is being sold solely on Dwayne's starpower looks bad and will mostly fail.

I've had the trailer with many movies. I think the first time was with Jumanji.

I think it should be a law that anyone who goes to see Truth or Dare and hasn't seen A Quiet Place should be shot. I do not think that's being unreasonable :P.

Borg vs. McEnroe is not a wide release. I don't know why they don't change it at BOM. It's theatrical/VOD on the same day.

Right, plus movies like that don't do well. Would have been stupid of Neon to bother with a wide release unless they want to go bankrupt fast. They're doing solidly so far with the success of I, Tonya. Releasing Borg wide would be a misstep. Same with Revenge, even if I personally would love to see it on the big screen. Would bomb though. Assassination Nation might do solid for them. I think that will be their next wide release.

Yeah Borg vs McEnroe has been floating around online for a few months now.

Sgt. Stubby has an impressive 250,685 Facebook likes. Definitely curious how wide it will open and how it does. I'm embarrassed to admit I kind of want to go see it. I'm mainly interested for Logan Lerman but it does seem cute.

Beirut, a November Man-style action vehicle for...Jon Hamm, is also opening wide. On Wednesday.

Where are you seeing that it's like November Man? From what I remember, I got a much more boring and Middle Eastern vibe from it.

Plus John Hamm cannot be compared to Pierce Brosnan. Also that November Man didn't do much at BO.

It wouldn't surprise me if A Quiet Place remains #1. Does anybody actually want to see Rampage?

Did anyone actually want to see a Jumanji reboot without Robin Williams...or that's what the "consensus" was...not going to count out The Rock.

It's The Rock. And he's coming off Jumanji. It will do fine. Over 100 Million total. But I'd be totally happy if you were right.
