MT:

1. Ready Player One 21.2%
2. Sherlock Gnomes 8.2%
3. Avengers: Infinity War 8%
4. A Quiet Place 7.2%
5. Black Panther 6.9%

Tyler Perry's Acrimony fell out of top 5, replaced by A Quiet Place. $30m+ OW seems safe for AQP. Can it challenge $40m+?

I'm not ruling it out but I don't see how it outopens Evil Dead. Even 2010's Elm Street barely crossed $30m.

It’s at 11.5% at MT this morning. If I’m not mistaken, last years Split was at 10% at the same time.

I really want AQP to break out and do $100m+ total and given the recent horror movie breakouts its not impossible. I would love to see more innovative horror movies like this going forward.

Absolutely. I'm a huge fan of the genre but creativity has largely stalled of late. Glad to see something fresh and well crafted.

Time has changed with Split, Get Out, and IT. Unlike Evil Dead or Freddy Kruger, these horror movies were geared to appeal to a broader audience. AQT has the drama and mystery elements and star powers to grow outside the horror genre.

You forgot Paranormal and Conjuring series in the mix. AQP brings exactly the mix of what these two movies brought back, an interesting concept and good star power. Plus being an original movie compared to Evil Dead and Elm Street movies helps and those reviews are GLOWING very rare for this genre to have that. Its at 97% with 128 reviews and only 4 being rotten and one of them is still at 2.5/4

Interesting concept, its either/or choice. I don't think Conjuring brought an interesting concept either, it was just a well executed movie.

I'm seeing a lot of reports on twitter about sold-out showings for AQP. Looks like this will do $30M+ after all and honestly I'm not even questioning $40M anymore. I'm expecting at least $3M from previews.

It's now up to 24.3% on MT.com, way ahead of everything else. I'm sure previews will be strong with it being a horror flick, but that's still very promising. I'm feeling a big breakout.

Conjuring did $3.31m previews and reached $41.8m ofcourse that was July but I think a similar previews for AQP could still get to $40m as well with PG-13 rating and great WoM

Good to see Blockers getting in there. Its looking like both movies will do $20m+ at this point which makes this a VERY strong weekend for openers and a long time coming after entire March disappointed. RPO is also going to boost the monthly grosses so overall looking to be a healthy start for April 2018.

Blockers will certainly have to overtake Ready Player One by tomorrow to hit 20m.

Blockers is an R-rated comedy so I think there will be a lot more walk-ins and it doesn't need to overtake RPO to get past $20m though AQP targeting a large segment of females might become a problem.

Good to see no Buck Panther in the top five.

"Buck" Panther will most likely be still be in Top 5 this weekend unless ICOI overtakes it this weekend. AQP, RPO, Blockers, Acrimony are pretty much locked up for Top 4.

A Quiet Place should do 40+ this weekend. Both the 7 and 9:45 here on the huge super-screens sold out. The film is a masterpiece. I will go see it multiple times. :wub2:
