Re: Thursday #'s/Previews
So it's a flop but it will end the reign of Wakanda and we can look forward to April releases.
I need to hit up Unsane and maybe ICOI this weekend. Gotta see the fuss.

Pacific Rim will hit expected numbers with that.

Re: Thursday #'s/Previews
The original did $3.6 million in Thursday previews.
Same ratio gives it $24.3 million for the weekend. So probably $19 - $23 million, I'd guess?

Re: Thursday #'s/Previews
I'm really confused as to why Pacific Rim 2 isn't a Chinese co-production. Wasn't it essentially made for that market? Not sure I understand Legendary's thinking there.

The film will join Dear John as random films that dethroned long running champions. When I think of this, I think Lost In Space.

School's out here and I guess kids opted to ride bikes instead. Gnomes looking pitiful.

Re: Thursday #'s/Previews
Films that never had a later film beat their time at #1 for the weekend:
Titanic, 15 Avatar, 7 Black Panther, 5
Pretty exclusive club - Presumably it will only get harder to make this list as the blockbuster season ever expands.

Re: Thursday #'s/Previews
That almost same as Tomb Raider from last week so I think $23m-$24m OW for PRU. I was thinking lower than that given the lack of buzz, so its not entirely bad.
Surprised Unsane made $300K, could have a decent OW based on this.

You forgot The Sixth Sense which (while not a blockbuster) did it after Titanic and before Avatar. Surprisingly its 5th and 6th weekend will be very close to BP's, ofcourse the opening of TSS was "slightly" lower

Re: Thursday #'s/Previews
Hmm true regardless I can't think PRU will do well in China again. Its not Tranformers and that series waning might have negative effect on PR.
