You don't see how a change in release date 2 months prior couldn't negatively effect it? It's not like it had OW competition on the 4th. It would've had even MORE time prior to release to build up hype. This is only a positive for the total gross.

It is just a move of one week. Won't make a difference to opening weekend. Will help its total (which was probably why it moved - Marvel cannot have Black Panther out-grossing their big summer event movie).

And it still has no competition in its OW. Like I said before outside of Rampage April is a pretty dead month and if Rampage moves it will look even weaker. As far as building up hype goes this movie already has plenty of built up hype, and we haven't even gotten a second trailer yet. The marketing hasn't officially ramped up, so I wouldn't worry about them building up more hype. Seeing how the first trailer and the SB spot crushed it I'm sure Marvel knows what there doing.

May really worked out for Marvel in the past though I am sure April will also be equally successful for them. It was a tradition for Marvel movies to open first week of May though not certain how this helps OW. Marketing will surely get everyone aware that this will open a week earlier BUT OS WoM has also helped these movies to open bigger. There is also the concern, specially with this movie that the WoM will tell that its a two part movie and that the audience will have to wait another year to see the end here.

Yeah, breaking the opening weekend record is never easy. But it is the only film in the foreseeable future with a shot.

Absolutely! All the people that could careless about the avengers will see this one solely for BP & Wakanda. That will help it top 230m or 240m OW. But I still don’t think it’ll be enough to top TFA.

The signs are all there for a HUGE OW. I feel it takes the OW record but then fall hard. BP doing more is guaranteed IMO.

I think since BP is heavily featured here along with apparently a major sequence/possibly final sequence taking place in Wakanda this is going to pull in that demo that came out in droves for BP. Avengers is going to be frontloaded and we should see the signs over its OW itself even if not I don't see Avengers pulling out sub-45% second and third weekend hold or sub-40% holds there after. Black Panther also had the privilege of March entirely flopping or not meeting expectations. IW won't have that luxury and will drop harder. I feel from $250m OW, A:IW can reach $700m total at MAX but realistically it will end with $625m-$650m a mark that BP will pass eventually.
